Alinea Analytics' latest data shows Battlefield 6 has already sold more than 6.5 million units across PC and consoles, generating over $350 million in revenue and moving closer to Call of Duty-level success. Here’s what the numbers say about platforms, player retention, and what’s next for EA’s live service gamble.
Steam leads the charge while consoles follow
More than half of Battlefield 6 buyers (56.7%) picked up the game on Steam. That equals over 3.5 million copies and roughly $220 million in revenue on Valve's platform alone. Consoles account for the rest, with PlayStation 5 owners making up 23.7% of the player base and Xbox Series S|X players at 19.6%.
That PS5 edge is slimmer than expected given the larger PlayStation install base. Xbox’s strong showing isn’t shocking either — shooter fandom runs deep on that platform. Together these figures show a broad, cross-platform debut rather than a single-system phenomenon.
Players are sticking around — and new ones keep arriving
Alinea notes an "extraordinarily flat" daily active user curve for Battlefield 6, meaning churn has been minimal so far while new users continue to join every day. In short: early buyers aren’t dropping off in large numbers, and fresh players are still trickling in.

Steam players overlap heavily with other popular shooters, including Call of Duty, Helldivers 2, The Finals, Marvel Rivals, Ready or Not, and earlier Battlefield titles. Regionally, about a third of Steam’s Battlefield 6 audience is in the United States, with 15% in China and 3% in Japan — a sign that Japanese PC shooter interest is rising.
Season roadmap and the big prize: Battle Royale
EA is treating Battlefield 6 as a long-lived service. Developers have already pushed initial balance patches, and Season 1 — bringing new maps, modes, weapons and more — is slated to begin on October 28. Meanwhile, a Battle Royale mode is currently being trialed in Battlefield Labs.
If the BR mode catches on, EA’s goal of reaching 100 million players becomes far more plausible. For now, the combination of solid launch sales, steady player retention, and a live roadmap give the title momentum.
