Samsung pushed out a quieter, more useful update this week: the fourth One UI 8.5 beta is now rolling for Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra users in Korea. It doesn’t rewrite the script, but it does tidy up several small annoyances that were starting to grate.
Was this supposed to arrive in mid-January? Rumors said yes. Then the calendar slipped. Now it’s here, and the build weighs in at about 1.5GB with firmware codes ending in ZZAL.
So what actually changed? Calls behave better. A bug that flipped calls to speakerphone on its own has been addressed. Another fix removes an odd error that appeared when checking call history inside the Phone app. If you ever experienced one-sided audio while using a Bluetooth headset, that problem has been targeted too. The update also prevents the call log icon from pasting numbers into the keypad, and it closes the loop on an AI Select quirk where tapping Copy left the menu open.

Why care? Because these are real, everyday interruptions — the kind that makes a polished phone feel flaky. Small bug fixes like these tend to matter more than flashy features once your daily workflow is involved.
If your device is enrolled in the One UI 8.5 beta program and you’re in a supported country, check for the new build by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Expect this firmware to inform the final One UI 8.5 release that will likely debut on February 25 with the Galaxy S26 lineup.
Not in the beta? Sit tight. These fixes usually trickle into stable releases soon after the public previews prove dependable.
