Instagram is rolling out Diwali-themed image and video effects across Stories and the Edits app, letting users add festive lights, rangoli patterns and fireworks with Meta AI — no external tools required.

Festive Restyle: What’s included

This year’s Diwali pack uses Instagram’s Restyle feature to layer traditional motifs and colours onto your photos and clips. Highlights include:

  • Image effects (Stories): Fireworks, Diyas, Rangoli
  • Video effects (Stories & Edits app): Lanterns, Marigold garlands, Rangoli animations

These presets are tuned to Diwali’s warm hues and celebratory visuals so your content feels authentic and vibrant.

How to apply Diwali effects in Instagram Stories

  • Open Stories by tapping the “+” on your profile photo or swipe left.
  • Select the photo or video you want from your gallery.
  • Tap the Restyle icon (paintbrush) in the top menu.
  • Pick a Diwali effect: Images (Fireworks, Rangoli, Diyas) or Videos (Lanterns, Marigold, Rangoli).

Edit Diwali-themed videos with the Edits app

  • Launch the Edits app and tap “+” in the Projects tab.
  • Choose a video from Reels, Camera, or Gallery and tap it in the timeline.
  • Scroll the icons at the bottom, tap Restyle, then open the Diwali header and select an effect.
  • Make any additional tweaks, then export your finished clip.

Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses get the festival treatment

Meta also added Diwali effects for Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Say “Hey Meta, Restyle This” to apply lights, fireworks or rangoli overlays to captures. Edited images can be viewed in the Meta AI app, making it easy to share spectacles of the celebration straight from your glasses.

Where and when you can use the effects

The Diwali Restyle effects are available through October 29, 2025, in India, the United States, Canada, Singapore, Australia and several other countries. If you’re in those regions, you should see the Diwali header appear in Restyle menus while the promotion runs.

Whether you’re posting a snap of family festivities or sharing a short lantern-lit clip, these built-in Meta AI effects make it simple to give socials a festive Diwali glow without leaving Instagram or the Edits app.
