This is the kind of battery you forget until your phone goes red—and then you reach for it without thinking. Xiaomi’s latest, the UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W, is furtive by design: only 6mm thick, 98g on the scale, and magnetic enough to cling to the back of your phone.
Don’t be fooled by the size. It houses a 5,000mAh cell and can deliver up to 15W of wireless power over Qi2. A USB-C port sits on the bottom for topping the pack itself, but it doubles as a faster wired output that can push up to 22.5W. Need to juice two devices? Tap the power button and it will feed one device wirelessly while charging another via USB-C.

Compatibility has a few caveats. A Xiaomi 17 can accept the full 15W, but it lacks built-in magnetic rings, so you’ll want a magnetic case for a neat snap-on fit. Wireless charging will still work without magnets—just not as handily. iPhones are limited to 7.5W from this pack, so don’t expect full MagSafe speeds on Apple hardware.
Physical measurements are almost absurd: 98.5 × 71.5 × 6mm. That’s a touch narrower than a Xiaomi 17 and dead even with the width of an iPhone 17. The pack was designed with the popular flagship widths in mind, including phones like the Galaxy S25 and Pixel 10, though magnetic attachment may require a compatible case on some models.

Build quality leans premium. Xiaomi uses an aluminum-alloy shell available in three colors, while the face that meets your phone is made from fiberglass to improve grip. Inside sits a Silicon-Carbon battery containing about 16% silicon, rated at 18.58Wh (typical 18.95Wh). To keep heat in check there’s a 4,369mm² graphite cooling sheet, and the pack includes a full slate of protections against over-voltage, under-voltage, overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, overheating, and electrostatic events.

The model number is MDY-20-EB. It looks good on spec sheets and is light enough to forget in a jacket pocket. Price and availability are regional for now: AUD 69.50 in Australia, SGD 69.90 in Singapore, and JPY 5,980 in Japan. Western markets haven’t shown it widely yet, so travelers may see it earlier than those waiting in Europe or North America.
It’s a product that answers a specific need: a magnetic, truly pocket-friendly backup for short outings and heavy-screen days. Small, smart, and practical. Who doesn’t like a little extra charge without the bulk?
