Huawei's next slim-phone entry, the Mate 70 Air, has surfaced in Chinese carrier records — and it could be the company's answer to the growing “Air” trend in ultra-thin smartphones. A China Telecom listing gives our first concrete look at its screen, memory options and colorways, even if some key details remain under wraps.
What has leaked so far?
The device appears in China Telecom’s product database under model number SUP-AL90. That entry lists a 6.9-inch display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and two memory configurations: 12GB RAM paired with either 256GB or 512GB of storage. Color options shown include Golden Black, Feather White and Silver Brocade.
Specs at a glance
- Model: SUP-AL90 (listed in China Telecom database)
- Display: 6.9-inch, Full HD (1920 × 1080)
- Memory: 12GB + 256GB / 12GB + 512GB
- Colors: Golden Black, Feather White, Silver Brocade
- Thickness: Not disclosed yet

Why 5G support is uncertain
One curious detail is the model code. Huawei’s 5G phones typically use an "AN00" suffix — this listing uses an "AL" series identifier instead. That difference suggests the Mate 70 Air might ship without 5G, but Huawei has not confirmed connectivity specifics. Until we get an official spec sheet, treat 5G support as unconfirmed.
How the Mate 70 Air fits the ultra-thin trend
Are slim flagship phones back in fashion? Several Chinese brands seem to think so. Earlier this year Nubia revealed the Nubia Air with a 6.7mm profile, and Motorola is preparing a Moto X70 Air with an incredibly thin 5.99mm chassis for a China debut. The Mate 70 Air looks poised to join that conversation, targeting buyers who prioritize style and pocket-friendly dimensions.

At the same time, Huawei appears to be gearing up for a wider autumn lineup. Reports point to a November debut for the Mate 80 series — potentially including Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro+ and Mate 80 RS — with the Mate X7 foldable possibly launching alongside them. Expect more leaks and official announcements in the weeks ahead as Huawei clarifies specs, pricing and availability.
For now, the China Telecom listing is the best hint we have: a large 6.9-inch display, hefty RAM, two generous storage tiers, and a few elegant color choices. If you like the idea of an ultra-thin phone with flagship-sized screen real estate, the Mate 70 Air is one to watch.
