Fast charging is turning into its own battleground, and Oppo clearly wants to stay out front. Ahead of its April 21 launch event in China, the company has opened reservations for a new 15,000mAh power bank built around 120W SuperVOOC charging, alongside a compact 120W GaN charger designed for people who want serious speed without carrying a brick in their bag.
The timing matters. Oppo is already expected to introduce the Find X9s Pro, the Find X9 Ultra, and new tablets at the same event, so this is not just a side accessory drop. It looks more like a broader push to build out a fast-charging ecosystem around its upcoming devices.
The new Oppo 120W SuperVOOC power bank is aimed at users who burn through battery on the move and do not have time to wait around. With a 15,000mAh capacity and 120W output, it is built to deliver top charging speeds for supported Oppo and OnePlus phones. In practical terms, that means quicker refuels during travel, long workdays, gaming sessions, or those moments when your phone is hanging on by a thread.
Oppo is also leaning hard into safety, and that may be the bigger story here. The company says the power bank meets China’s latest mandatory safety standards for power banks well ahead of the rules taking effect in April 2027. According to Oppo, the accessory has already passed a series of demanding checks, including puncture testing, compression resistance, high-temperature endurance, and long-term ageing simulations. Those tests are meant to lower the risk of overheating, battery swelling, and internal short circuits over extended use.

Safety is becoming a selling point
That shift says a lot about where the market is heading. Charging speed still grabs attention, but battery safety is increasingly part of the buying decision, especially as higher-wattage accessories become more common. Oppo appears to be responding early by positioning this power bank not just as fast, but as future-ready.
The device is also expected to use Oppo’s new Ice Shield battery technology. While full technical details have not been shared yet, the system is said to include upgraded protection features and software-based battery health tracking. That could let users monitor the condition of the power bank over time instead of treating it like a sealed mystery until performance drops. China’s upcoming rules also place more emphasis on battery traceability, so users may be able to access core information such as battery sourcing and manufacturer data more easily.
Alongside the power bank, Oppo has started taking pre-orders for a dual-port 120W GaN charger. The charger is expected to bring similar fast-charging performance in a more compact form, making it the sort of accessory that can live permanently in a backpack or jacket pocket. Oppo is offering it in finishes with notably stylized names, including Bright Warm Sunshine and Rose Mist Velvet Yarn, a reminder that even chargers now get the lifestyle treatment.
Both accessories are currently listed for reservation through Oppo’s official store in China. Pricing has not been announced yet, but that will likely change as the April 21 event gets closer. If the company delivers on the promised mix of speed, portability, and stronger safety credentials, Oppo’s new 120W power bank could end up being one of the more interesting accessory launches tied to this year’s flagship phone cycle.

120W charger in a pocket sounds cool, but is that GaN unit really safe longterm? software battery tracking seems useful, idk still skeptical.

wow didn't expect Oppo to push this hard... 120W powerbank? insane. Safety tests sound solid, but curious about real world temps and longevity
