Think subscriptions were already everywhere? Meta just pushed the idea further. Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp now offer paid Plus tiers, rolling out globally, and the company says more plans for Meta AI users, creators and businesses are on the way.

Prices are modest. Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus cost €3.71 per month, while WhatsApp Plus is €2.78 per month. Meta also clarified that these Plus packages will sit alongside Meta Verified rather than replace it.

Perks that might make you upgrade

On Facebook and Instagram, Plus subscribers get deeper Story analytics, including rewatch counts. You can build unlimited audience lists beyond Close Friends, extend Stories past the usual 24-hour window, and preview Stories before posting. There’s a new ability to search Story viewer lists, and to publish posts directly to your profile without forcing them into followers’ feeds.

Small flourishes, too: animated Super Heart reactions for Stories, custom app icons, new fonts for profile bios, and extra profile pins. Each of those is tiny on its own. Together they’re a nudge toward a more personalized profile experience.

WhatsApp Plus focuses on customization and convenience. Expect custom ringtones, fresh app themes, support for more pinned chats, expanded sticker packs, and finer-grain list customization. If you use WhatsApp to manage a heavy stream of conversations, those additions could actually save time.

Will people pay? That’s the question. For creators and small businesses, options that improve audience segmentation and content longevity are attractive. For everyday users, it’s a trade-off between convenience and another monthly fee.

Meta’s bigger play seems clear: diversify revenue beyond ads and give power users tools they’ll pay for. Keep an eye on your apps in the coming weeks; the Plus prompts should appear as features roll out globally.
