3 Minutes
Imagine scrolling your phone and finding every conversation—voice calls, video chats, group meetings—lined up in one familiar list. That is exactly what Samsung's One UI 9 is doing on Galaxy S26 handsets in the current beta.
It isn't magic. It's Android 17 at work. Google added a new platform ability in Android 17 that lets third-party calling apps report call events to the system dialer. One UI 9, built on Android 17, adopts that capability so Samsung's Phone app can show call entries from supported apps like Google Meet and WhatsApp alongside native GSM calls. Telegram and some other apps haven't plugged in yet, so your mileage will vary.

A simple switch if you prefer a slimmer log
Tired of seeing every meeting and WhatsApp chat mixed into your regular call history? Samsung enabled this integration by default, but you can turn it off in seconds.
- Open the Samsung Phone app on a Galaxy S26 running One UI 9.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and choose Settings.
- Go to Other call settings, then Other calling apps.
- Toggle off any third-party apps whose calls you don’t want in the Phone app.
Short, simple, reversible. No need to hunt through system menus.

Why does this matter? For users who switch between a native dialer and multiple messaging apps, consolidating call history can feel like cleaning up a messy desk. Everything is findable in one place. But for people who want separation between work meetings, personal calls, and chat app sessions, the option to opt out is the real headline.
Expect more apps to join the party as Android 17 rolls out more widely. Developers need to adopt the new APIs, and once they do, your Samsung Phone app could become the single hub for nearly all your conversations—if that’s how you like it.
