Apple has quietly relaunched its App Store experience for the web, turning a handful of static app pages into a browsable, searchable storefront. The update doesn’t change how apps are installed, but it makes discovery and sharing far easier when you’re away from an Apple device.
A familiar App Store, now in your browser
Visit apps.apple.com and you’ll no longer land on a sparse listing. The new web interface mirrors the look and feel of the App Store on iPhone, iPad and Mac: curated Today-style recommendations, clean app cards, screenshots and editorial blurbs. It’s organized, attractive, and finally useful for casual browsing.
Apple hasn’t enabled web-based installs — you still need an Apple device to actually download an app — but each listing can be opened instantly on your linked device or shared as a link. That small change makes a big difference for people researching apps from a work PC, Chromebook, or when recommending software to friends.
Search, platform switching, and curated categories
One of the most important improvements is search. Previously, finding App Store pages on the web often required a direct link or a lucky search engine result. Now you can type an app name into the site and get immediate, organized results. There’s also a top menu to switch platforms — iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and even Vision Pro — plus category filters for productivity, entertainment, games and more.

Browsing feels intentional: curated lists, platform-specific picks, and the familiar Today tab give you ideas when you don’t know exactly what to look for. Want to explore immersive apps for Vision Pro or see trending Mac utilities? The new layout makes those journeys straightforward.
What’s still missing — and why it matters
Some users will be disappointed that you can’t install apps directly from the browser. Apple remains committed to device-level installs for security and ecosystem reasons. Still, the redesign closes a persistent usability gap: easier discovery, better search, and simpler sharing across devices make the App Store far more accessible to a global, multi-device audience.
Apple hasn’t shared its roadmap for further web features, but this refreshed App Store on the web is a welcome modernization. It doesn’t rewrite Apple’s rules about where you get apps — but it does make finding the right app a quicker, friendlier experience.
