Huawei has quietly rolled out the Enjoy 70X Premium in China ahead of the Mate 80 series reveal. The new edition keeps the core design of the earlier Enjoy 70X but introduces a stronger chipset, fresh colorways and a few practical upgrades aimed at users who want long battery life and satellite messaging.

What's new in the Premium edition

The headline change is the octa-core Kirin 8000 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. That gives the Enjoy 70X Premium a noticeable performance bump over its predecessor while preserving the phone's mid-range price positioning. It also supports satellite communication, so you can send basic text or image messages when traditional networks are unavailable — a handy safety feature for remote trips.

Display, cameras and battery that last

Huawei fitted the handset with a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display at Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth scrolling and punchy colors. A pill-shaped cutout houses the 8MP front camera, and an in-display fingerprint sensor sits under the panel for secure unlocking.

On the back there's a 50MP primary camera teamed with a 2MP depth sensor. Photography here is straightforward: the main shooter handles most scenes while the depth unit assists portrait shots.

Battery life is a selling point — a 6,100mAh cell keeps the phone running well beyond a day of heavy use, and 40W wired charging gets it back on track quickly. The phone ships with HarmonyOS 4.2 and includes Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and dual-band Wi-Fi.

Color options include Obsidian Black, Sand Gold and Starry Blue, giving buyers some stylistic choice without changing the hardware story.

Pricing is competitive: the 8GB/256GB model is listed at CNY 1,899 (about $265) and the 8GB/512GB option at CNY 2,199 (about $310). Huawei has made the Enjoy 70X Premium available through its Vmall store in China.

So is it worth upgrading? If you value stronger on-device performance, a massive battery and the safety net of satellite messaging, the Premium edition is a sensible, budget-friendly step up from the standard Enjoy 70X.
