Sony has refreshed the PS5 controller lineup with a striking new colorway. The Icon Blue Special Edition DualSense channels PlayStation's familiar blue glow into a layered, glossy design that plays with light and nostalgia.
A blue nod to a brand-defining light
The Icon Blue model blends multiple tones of blue across the grips and lower shell, while a glossy pattern of PlayStation symbols decorates the touchpad. On the back, Katakana characters spell out PlayStation in Japanese, a subtle homage to the brand's origins that reflects Sony's design intent to celebrate heritage as much as hardware.
When and where it lands — and how much it costs
The controller debuts October 20 in the United States and Canada, with a follow-up launch on October 28 for Mexico and Chile. Sony has priced the Icon Blue DualSense at 84.99 USD, 109.99 CAD, 1,899 MXN, and 93,490 CLP. For these regions the controller will be exclusive to Walmart stores and Walmart's online storefront.
DualSense features — familiar tech in a fresh coat
Under the new paint job, nothing has changed in terms of functionality. The Icon Blue DualSense retains all the features players expect: advanced haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, motion sensors, a built-in microphone, USB-C charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It works seamlessly with the PlayStation 5 and with supported PC and mobile platforms for those who use controllers across devices.

Why the color matters — and where it fits
According to Leo Cardoso from Sony's Color, Material and Finish design team, the Icon Blue was created to capture the anticipation that kicks in the moment a console powers on and the signature blue light appears. For collectors and casual fans alike, it expands a growing palette of DualSense options that already includes Galactic Purple, Starlight Blue, Midnight Black and several game-themed limited editions.

Part of a bigger celebration
The Icon Blue release is timed with PlayStation's 30th anniversary celebrations, which began on September 9. Sony has not confirmed whether this Special Edition will roll out beyond North America and parts of Latin America, leaving open the possibility of later expansion or other regional exclusives.

In related audio news, Sony has also launched its flagship WH-1000XM6 headphones in India, bringing updated noise-cancelling tech and premium sound to that market.
