XREAL closes out 2025 with the 1S, an affordable AR headset that brings automatic 2D-to-3D video conversion to consumer smart glasses for the first time. It’s designed to be light, bright and—most importantly—accessible.
At just 82 grams, the 1S packs a pair of Sony 0.68-inch OLED microdisplays delivering 1920×1200 per eye and up to a 120Hz refresh rate. Switch into the new 2D-to-3D mode and the refresh rate drops to 30Hz, but XREAL prioritizes a steady, comfortable view: a 52° field of view, 700 nits of peak brightness and color accuracy rated at ΔE < 3. Those figures help keep movies, apps and everyday productivity looking crisp even when you rely on conversion for older content.
Much of the performance comes from XREAL’s in-house X1 spatial computing chip, which the company says can hold latency down to around 3ms. That’s key because the 1S supports 3DoF head tracking—your virtual screen remains anchored as you tilt or turn your head, reducing motion mismatch and making 3D conversions feel more convincing.

- Weight: 82 g
- Displays: Sony 0.68" OLED microdisplays, 1920×1200 per eye
- Refresh rate: up to 120Hz (30Hz in 2D-to-3D mode)
- Field of view: 52°
- Brightness: 700 nits; color accuracy ΔE < 3
- Latency: as low as 3 ms (X1 chip)
- Tracking: 3DoF head tracking
There are also thoughtful touches beyond the screen. Audio is tuned by Bose, the frame houses four array microphones, and an adaptive light transmittance system shifts between 0%, 35% and 100% depending on how much outside light you want. The 1S comes in a single finish called Silent Blue.
XREAL says the automatic 2D-to-3D feature won’t be exclusive to the new model: owners of the existing XREAL One and One Pro should get the capability via a software update around the 1S launch window, which helps the whole product family feel more future-proof.
A portable battery made for AR: the XREAL Neo
To complement the 1S, XREAL revealed the Neo, a 10,000mAh mobile battery pack with AR users in mind. It offers two USB-C ports, can pass video to AR glasses while charging your phone, and even doubles as a dock for the Nintendo Switch lineup—including compatibility with the newer Switch 2. The Neo arrives in late January priced at ¥14,580.

If you want both devices, XREAL is selling a bundle that pairs the 1S and Neo for ¥76,560—about ¥6,000 less than buying them separately—and early pre-orders include the XREAL Hub as a bonus. It’s a practical approach: better battery life and a compact dock can make AR glasses useful beyond quick demos and into full-day workflows.
Whether you care most about movies that pop in 3D, a lightweight wearable for long viewing sessions, or a battery accessory that doubles as a Switch dock, the 1S and Neo feel like the kind of practical, user-focused updates AR needed in 2025. Ready to try 2D-to-3D on your next stream?

Nice specs, but 30Hz for converted 3D? that's gonna show motion judder on panning shots, no? Also curious how well X1 handles real time depth, anyone tried the beta?
