Samsung's next foldable is already stirring interest. Leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Fold8 will arrive next summer with meaningful camera upgrades — improvements that could matter more in everyday shooting than a pure megapixel count.
What’s changing in the Fold8’s camera pack?
According to the latest reports, the Fold8 will keep the same 200MP main sensor used by its predecessor, but the supporting optics look significantly revamped. The telephoto lens is tipped to jump to a 12MP sensor with 3x optical zoom, replacing the Fold7’s 10MP telephoto. That should deliver cleaner detail at mid-range distances and better low-light performance when cropping.
The ultrawide camera appears to be getting a substantial boost too. Samsung is said to borrow a 50MP ultrawide module from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, a big step up from the Fold7’s 12MP snapper. Expect wider, sharper landscape and group shots with improved dynamic range.

- Main: 200MP (same as Fold7)
- Telephoto: 12MP with 3x optical zoom (upgrade from 10MP)
- Ultrawide: 50MP (new, from S25 Ultra)
- Selfies: two 10MP cameras (reportedly unchanged)
One small disappointment in the leak: both selfie cameras reportedly remain at 10MP each. So while rear-camera versatility looks set to improve, front-facing upgrades may be limited.
These changes suggest Samsung is prioritizing optical quality and wider-angle detail over simply bumping the main sensor. We’ll update this story as more reliable specs and sample images surface — and if you missed it, our full review of the Fold7 is a useful reference for what the Fold8 might refine.
