Ram's bold start to 2026 and a fresh digital idea
Ram Trucks kicked off 2026 with a flurry of announcements that made headlines across the pickup world. The brand revived diesel muscle in the Power Wagon with a 6.7-liter Cummins HO Turbo Diesel and class-leading torque, and it reintroduced the Hellcat spirit in the 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX with the return of the 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8. Those moves underscore Ram's strength in the truck market — and now designers are imagining how the marque might expand into SUVs.
A concept in pixels: the Ramcharger rendering
Digital artist Kleber Silva, known online as KDesign AG, has sketched an unofficial 2027 Ramcharger — a three-row full-size SUV that borrows the refreshed Ram 1500's styling cues and overlays them on a body reminiscent of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The exercise is pure CGI, but it’s a convincing look at how Ram could translate its muscular pickup identity into a large SUV aimed at families who also want presence and capability.

Why the name Ramcharger makes sense
The Ramcharger name carries legacy: Dodge used it from the 1970s through the early 1990s for a full-size SUV that stood alongside the K5 Blazer and Ford Bronco. Earlier plans indicated Ramcharger might have been an extended-range electric variant of the 1500, but naming shifts inside Stellantis (including the 1500 REV designation) could free up Ramcharger for a new, conventional or electrified SUV. For marketing and brand continuity, reviving that name would be a smart move.
What the rendering suggests — and what it doesn’t
Silva's render blends the Grand Wagoneer proportions with the 2026 Ram 1500's face, creating a three-row layout, upright stance, and a muscular shoulder line. It hints at what buyers expect from a full-size Ram SUV: towing capability, interior luxury, and a commanding road presence. But the image doesn’t confirm platform, drivetrain, or exact dimensions — those remain speculation until Ram announces a production plan.
Possible specifications (speculative)
- Seating: three rows, likely for seven to eight passengers
- Platform: potentially shared architecture with other Stellantis full-size SUVs
- Powertrain options: gasoline HEMI V8, Hurricane inline-six, diesel variants, or an EREV/plug-in hybrid like the 1500 REV concept
- Market targets: Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban, Ford Expedition, Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Market context and strategy
SUVs remain the dominant segment globally, and a full-size, three-row Ram SUV would let Ram capture buyers who want truck-based capability without an open bed. Sharing technology and electrified options across Stellantis brands could also speed development while offering multiple powertrain choices — from traditional V8s to electrified EREV systems.
Ram’s recent emphasis on both diesel torque in the Power Wagon and high-performance gas power in the TRX shows it aims to cover diverse buyer needs. A Ramcharger SUV could help the brand move into urban and family-focused sales channels while keeping core Ram buyers engaged.

Final thoughts: realistic dream or unlikely detour?
The Ramcharger rendering is an imaginative, well-executed look at a potential direction for the brand. It’s not an official product blueprint, but it does make a persuasive case that Ram could successfully translate its pickup DNA into a full-size three-row SUV. For now, treat it as an exciting what-if: a design study that highlights opportunity more than commitment.
Quote: 'If Ram wants to own presence in the full-size SUV segment, a Ramcharger would be a natural next step,' says one industry observer, noting the brand's renewed momentum in both diesel and performance truck segments.
So — what do you think: would a Ramcharger be a hit with buyers, or should Ram stick to pickups and leave SUVs to its Stellantis cousins?

Not sure this makes sense, Ram should stick to pickups imo. SUVs are crowded, and if it's just a 1500 with seats tacked on, meh...

Wow a Ramcharger? I'm stoked, love the idea of truck DNA in a family SUV. But will they keep the V8 torque or go hybrid? Idk, hope they keep the brawn not just badges
