GR Yaris gets a rally-bred tribute for Ogier's ninth title

Sebastien Ogier sealed his ninth World Rally Championship crown driving a rally-spec GR Yaris, and Toyota Gazoo Racing has answered with a limited-production roadgoing tribute. Officially called the Toyota GR Yaris Sebastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition, the model was revealed in pre-production form at Monaco Harbor and celebrates both Ogier's achievement and Toyota's rally heritage.

Limited run and markets

Based on the Aero Performance variant, the special edition is strictly limited — just 200 units will be produced for undisclosed global markets, with 100 allocated to Europe. The numbered production plaque inside each car underlines the collector appeal.

New driving modes: SEB and Morizo

Toyota fitted the car with two bespoke drive settings that reflect its rally DNA and input from company chairman Akio Toyoda (aka Morizo). The SEB driving mode replaces the standard Track mode and biases torque toward the rear with a 40:60 front-to-rear split, promoting rear-drive-oriented vehicle control while preserving front-end turn-in.

Morizo mode replaces the former Gravel setting and is tuned to maximise traction and cornering performance. Toyota explains that under hard acceleration front and rear wheels are effectively locked, with the locking force eased as braking demands it. These torque distribution maps were developed by Toyoda and were reportedly favoured by Ogier on gravel events.

Design and interior details

Visually the Ogier edition stands out with an exclusive Black Gravite paint finish, matte black wheels that contrast with blue brake calipers, and a subtle French tricolor accent on the front grille. Special vinyl graphics decorate the rear wing and lower doors, while a bespoke rear emblem reads Sebastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition. The windshield bears Morizo's signature.

Inside, the cabin mixes rally cues with road-going refinement: a leather-wrapped vertical parking brake lever with grey stitching, GR steering wheels trimmed with tricolor thread, and unique full TFT GR instrument graphics that display SEB and Morizo modes. A serial-numbered plaque reinforces the model's exclusivity.

Highlights:

  • Limited to 200 units worldwide, 100 for Europe
  • SEB mode with 40:60 torque split and Morizo traction mapping
  • Black Gravite paint, matte wheels, blue brake calipers and tricolor accents
  • Numbered plaque and exclusive GR TFT graphics

Performance and pricing expectations

Toyota has not published specific powertrain upgrades for the Ogier edition. It therefore likely retains the GR Yaris' rally-derived 1.6L three-cylinder engine tuned to 280 metric horsepower (around 276 bhp / 206 kW) in European specification. Pricing is also unconfirmed, though buyers should expect a premium over the regular range. For reference, the UK entry price for the standard GR Yaris starts at £46,045, while the Aero Performance trim begins at £48,995.

Quote from the release: 'This special edition honours Ogier's ninth title and brings rally-inspired control and exclusive detailing to a rare road-going GR Yaris.'

Availability note

As with other GR Yaris derivatives, the Sebastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition will not be offered in the United States, where the GR Yaris remains unavailable. For enthusiasts in Europe and other selected markets, this limited run offers a strong link between Toyota's WRC success and a highly focused hot hatch road car.

Whether as a collector's piece or a performance-driven daily, the Ogier edition reminds buyers that Toyota continues to mine its motorsport success for evocative, limited-run road models.

Wait it's not coming to the US? Figures. No power upgrades mentioned either, so is this mostly a cosmetic tribute or do SEB and Morizo actually change the driving feel enough to justify a premium?

wow only 200... insane. Morizo mode sounds dope, rear bias 40:60? if they don't kill usability with price i might actually cry lol
