The next Sony flagship earbuds look like they're trying a new identity. Gone is the familiar circular silhouette; leaked images show a pill-shaped WF-1000XM6 that doesn't just tweak the formula — it rethinks it.
Photos that surfaced via The Walkman Blog and originally came from Thai retailer Power Buy were pulled almost as fast as they went live. That kind of stealth leak usually means a launch is close. Sony hasn't confirmed anything yet, but what the images reveal is hard to ignore.
On the spec side, the basics are there: active noise cancellation, an Ambient mode for hearing the world around you, and an IPX4 rating for splash resistance. Beyond that, the design changes are the headline. The earbuds look flatter and more pill-like than the rounded pods Sony used before. The charging case follows suit, trading curves for a more restrained profile.
One intriguing detail: each earbud appears to house at least three external microphones — with the possibility of a fourth mic tucked inside. That suggests Sony is prioritizing call quality and adaptive noise control. The leaked images also hint at new tip construction; foam tips might lack the inner silicone layer some users have seen on previous models, which could change fit and seal characteristics.
Color options on the leak include black and a platinum silver. There's chatter that a pink finish could join the lineup later. Price? Unknown. Availability? Unannounced. Sony is keeping its lips sealed for now, but retailers jumping the gun usually mean the reveal is imminent.
