Skoda tops one million units in 2025 as Czech plants drive growth
Skoda delivered a major production and manufacturing milestone in 2025, assembling more than one million cars worldwide and registering a roughly 15 percent production increase year-on-year. While the Volkswagen Group moved nearly nine million vehicles across its brands last year, Skoda stood out with both higher vehicle output and strong component manufacturing for the entire group.

Numbers that matter
Key highlights from Skoda's 2025 manufacturing report:
- Around 1,065,000 vehicles were assembled by and for Skoda in 2025, up about 15% from 2024.
- Retail deliveries for the brand were reported at roughly 1,043,900 units in the 12-month period.
- Component output included more than 329,000 battery systems, about 1,030,000 transmissions, and in excess of 500,000 engines.
These figures reflect a broad increase across powertrain and electrification components, with batteries serving plug-in hybrids and full battery-electric models. Mild-hybrid battery modules, however, continue to be produced by Volkswagen in Brunswick, Germany.

Plants and model mix: Czechia at the top
Most of Skoda's output still originates in the Czech Republic. Mlada Boleslav remained the flagship site, producing an estimated 605,600 cars in 2025. That plant builds a mix of small and compact models, crossovers, and full-electric vehicles, including:
- Fabia (subcompact)
- Scala (compact)
- Kamiq (crossover)
- Enyaq, Enyaq Coupe, and the Elroq (battery-electric models)
Notably, Mlada Boleslav is the only Volkswagen Group plant, as of February 2026, that assembles both internal-combustion and electric cars on the same line — a flexibility that offers production efficiency as model mix shifts.

Kvasiny was another standout, increasing production to about 301,500 vehicles in 2025 from roughly 248,000 the year before. Kvasiny produces the popular Octavia, the Kodiaq three-row crossover and the Karoq. Strong demand for the Kodiaq led Skoda to open a second production line there; in 2025 the Kodiaq marked the brand's one-millionth car milestone. The plant also built some 40,200 vehicles for SEAT during the year.
Elsewhere, the larger Superb is manufactured at the Volkswagen Group facility in Bratislava alongside the wagon-only Volkswagen Passat, and Skoda also operates plants across Kazakhstan, Vietnam, India and China to serve regional markets.
Transmissions and engines: breadth of output
Skoda's component output spans modern transmissions and a wide engine portfolio. Vrchlabi and Mlada Boleslav produce five-, six- and seven-speed units, including the DQ200-series dual-clutch transmission. The DQ200 dry-clutch DCT supports up to 250 Nm (about 184 lb-ft) of torque, making it suitable for smaller petrol and mild-hybrid applications.
On the engine side Skoda's range includes compact units such as the 1.0-litre MPI three-cylinder, the turbocharged 1.0 TSI, and four-cylinder 1.4 and 1.5 TSI mills. The 1.6 MPI remains in limited markets due to tightening emissions rules.

Skoda's 2025 performance shows the brand's role has evolved: it is not just a volume contributor inside the Volkswagen Group but also a strategic supplier of batteries, transmissions and engines. The ability to flex between EV and ICE assembly at the same site is a notable competitive advantage as European demand shifts toward electrified models.
For buyers and enthusiasts, higher production means better availability across the model range — from affordable city cars to family SUVs and EVs like the Enyaq — and signals continued investment in technology and capacity from the Czech automaker.
