Poco is back in teaser mode, and when the brand starts dropping hints, a launch usually isn’t far behind. This time the spotlight is on the upcoming Poco X8 Pro series, which has quietly appeared in official promotional material confirming something performance fans care deeply about: the chips inside.
The company has revealed that the new lineup will run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8‑series and 9‑series silicon. That alone signals Poco’s familiar strategy—deliver flagship‑leaning power without pushing the price into premium territory.
A tale of two chips
According to the teaser shared by Poco, the X8 Pro family will ship with two different processors: the Dimensity 8500 Ultra and the Dimensity 9500s. The latter appears to be a slightly toned‑down version of the existing Dimensity 9500, designed to balance raw power with efficiency.
Poco hasn’t officially confirmed the exact model names yet, but industry reports already point to a likely split. The standard Poco X8 Pro is expected to run on the Dimensity 8500 Ultra, while a higher‑tier Poco X8 Pro Max could arrive powered by the Dimensity 9500s.
If that turns out to be true, the lineup will cover two performance tiers—one aimed at upper mid‑range buyers and another pushing closer to flagship territory.
Familiar hardware with a Poco twist
Behind the scenes, the Poco X8 Pro series may not be entirely new hardware. Multiple reports suggest both devices are closely related to the Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Max that debuted earlier this month in China. Poco has a long history of adapting Redmi devices for global markets, usually with subtle tweaks.
The biggest difference could show up in battery capacity. While still large by modern standards, the Poco versions are rumored to carry slightly smaller cells than their Chinese counterparts.
- Poco X8 Pro: around a 6,500mAh battery
- Poco X8 Pro Max: roughly a 7,550mAh battery
Even with those adjustments, both numbers remain comfortably above what most flagship phones offer today.
Display sizes may also differ between the two models. The X8 Pro is expected to feature a 6.59‑inch OLED panel, while the Pro Max could stretch to a larger 6.83‑inch screen. Both displays are rumored to support 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling, gaming, and video playback feel fluid.
Cameras appear fairly straightforward. The standard model may include a 20‑megapixel front camera, while the Pro Max could upgrade that to 32 megapixels. Around the back, both devices are expected to use a 50‑megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization, paired with an 8‑megapixel ultra‑wide camera.
Memory, storage, and a surprise variant
Performance hardware won’t stop at the processor. The Poco X8 Pro series is rumored to offer configurations with up to 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and as much as 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage—components typically associated with premium smartphones.
Color options will likely include mint, black, and white finishes. But one variant could steal the spotlight: leaks suggest the standard X8 Pro may arrive in a special Iron Man edition, continuing Poco’s habit of releasing pop‑culture themed devices for collectors and fans.
With official teasers already circulating and specifications steadily leaking, the Poco X8 Pro series appears poised for a global debut very soon. If Poco keeps its usual formula—aggressive pricing paired with powerful hardware—these phones could quickly become serious contenders in the upper mid‑range smartphone market.

Looks powerful on paper, feels a bit overhyped tho. Iron Man edition is hype bait but kinda cool. Price will tell if it's worth it...

Poco just slaps Redmi guts on new shells? hmm... Dimensity 8500 / 9500s sound solid, but slightly smaller batteries worry me, will they keep price low or cut corners?
