Luxury SUVs rarely whisper. They arrive with presence, chrome, and just enough drama to remind everyone who owns the road. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 has always understood that assignment. Now, a fresh set of digital renderings suggests the ultra-luxury SUV might be preparing for another visual evolution—and this one leans heavily into Mercedes’ favorite motif: the three-pointed star.
The current GLS generation first stepped onto the stage at the 2019 New York International Auto Show before reaching global markets later that year. Mercedes already gave the flagship SUV a facelift for the 2024 model year, yet prototypes hint that another mid-cycle update is quietly in development. Test vehicles have been spotted alongside the GLE and GLE Coupe, suggesting the next design tweaks are already taking shape behind the scenes.
While Mercedes hasn’t revealed anything official yet, digital artist @ildar_project recently imagined what the future Maybach version could look like. The renderings, shared on social media, offer a small but intriguing preview of a refreshed Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600—one still determined to challenge ultra-premium rivals like the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
A Familiar SUV, Now With a Constellation of Details
The most eye-catching change appears up front. The headlights in the rendering feature star-shaped daytime running lights, echoing the design language seen in the latest Mercedes-Benz S-Class. It’s subtle at first glance, but unmistakably theatrical once you notice it—exactly the sort of detail Maybach buyers tend to appreciate.
The iconic vertical-slat grille remains, though the real production version could grow slightly larger. Beneath it, the bumper has been reshaped with more aggressive openings: two large side vents and a central lower intake divided into three sections. The result gives the massive SUV a sharper, more assertive face without losing its signature elegance.
The digital concept also experiments with wider wheel arches, exaggerating the SUV’s stance. They add muscle to the profile, though such dramatic changes may be more artistic freedom than a realistic preview of the production model.
At the rear, the star theme continues. The taillights mirror the pattern seen on the newest S-Class iterations, scattering tiny illuminated stars across the light signature. The tailgate design largely stays the same, but the bumper and diffuser receive subtle updates that make the back end appear cleaner and slightly more modern.
The imagined model keeps one Maybach hallmark firmly intact: the two-tone paint finish. In this case, a deep brown covers the lower body while glossy black dominates the upper half, separated by plenty of chrome trim. It’s unmistakably Maybach—opulent, deliberate, and impossible to ignore.
New multi-fin wheels appear in the rendering as well, though they depart from the classic Maybach alloys that many fans recognize instantly. The SUV also sits slightly lower than the current model, giving it a sleeker silhouette.
Of course, digital renderings are exactly that—interpretations. The real facelifted Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 will almost certainly look a bit different when it finally breaks cover. Still, these images hint at the direction Mercedes might take as it refines its flagship luxury SUV for the years ahead.
If current timelines hold, the updated GLS lineup could appear later this year, potentially launching as a 2027 model. The standard versions are expected to arrive first, with AMG and Maybach variants following shortly afterward. And if these starry design cues prove accurate, the next Maybach GLS may shine—quite literally—brighter than ever.
