Huawei didn’t make a quiet entrance this time. The Mate 80 Pro has officially stepped beyond China—and Malaysia gets first dibs.
After its initial reveal in November 2025, expectations lingered around when Huawei would push its flagship lineup to international shelves. Now it’s happening, though with a twist: only the Pro model is making the trip abroad, leaving its siblings behind for now.
The Mate 80 Pro doesn’t hold back where it matters. Up front, a 6.75-inch LTPO OLED display stretches edge to edge, packing a sharp 2832 × 1280 resolution. It refreshes at 120Hz, peaks at a dazzling 3,000 nits, and includes 1440Hz PWM dimming—useful for those sensitive to screen flicker. Touch response is equally snappy at 300Hz, all shielded by Huawei’s second-generation Kunlun Glass.
What’s under the hood, though, is less straightforward. Huawei is keeping quiet about the chipset in the global variant. In China, the device runs on the Kirin 9030 Pro paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Whether that exact setup carries over internationally remains unconfirmed—but it’s a safe bet performance won’t be lacking.

The Camera System Takes Center Stage
This is where Huawei leans into its strengths. The rear camera array is led by a 50MP ultra lighting sensor with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0, giving it flexibility across lighting conditions. Alongside it sits a 40MP ultra-wide lens and a 48MP macro telephoto shooter.
Zoom capabilities stretch to 4x optical and up to 100x digitally. Video enthusiasts get 8K recording, while the 13MP front camera supports crisp 4K capture—more than enough for content creators and video calls alike.
Durability and connectivity aren’t afterthoughts either. The phone carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, meaning it can handle both dust and high-pressure water. You’ll also find WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, dual SIM 4G support, and extras like 3D face unlock, a fingerprint sensor, and even an infrared blaster.

Battery life looks equally ambitious. A 5,750mAh cell powers the device, backed by 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging—numbers that put it firmly in the fast-charging elite.
In Malaysia, the Mate 80 Pro arrives in a single configuration: 16GB RAM with 512GB storage. Color options include Black, Green, and Gold. Pricing lands at RM 3,999, roughly translating to $1,017, €888, or £765.
Huawei isn’t just releasing another flagship—it’s testing how far its ecosystem can travel beyond China, starting with a market that’s always been quick to adopt premium tech.
