A supercar without a final name? That’s exactly where BYD’s Denza Z stands right now—and instead of quietly deciding behind closed doors, the brand is throwing the doors wide open.
Denza has launched a public naming campaign for its upcoming Z supercar lineup, inviting enthusiasts to help define the identity of three distinct versions: a hardtop coupe, a convertible, and a track-focused variant. It’s a rare move in the high-performance world, where naming is usually as tightly controlled as lap times.
Participants are asked to pair creative suffixes with “Denza Z” to form full model names. Submissions are open until April 10, with entries allowed in Chinese, English, or even hybrid combinations. From there, Denza will shortlist 30 candidates before handing the final vote to the public via Weibo. The incentives aren’t trivial either—there’s a grand prize, plus awards for popularity and creativity.

Three Cars, Three Personalities
The naming challenge reflects something deeper: these aren’t just cosmetic variations. Each Denza Z version has been shaped with a clear purpose.
The hardtop is positioned as the most balanced option—built for drivers who want performance without sacrificing everyday usability. Think sharp handling, track-inspired engineering, but still approachable.
The convertible leans in a completely different direction. With its soft-top design, it’s less about shaving milliseconds and more about the experience—the sound, the الهواء, the lifestyle appeal that comes with open-top driving.
Then there’s the track variant. This is where Denza drops all pretense of compromise. Lightweight construction, aggressive tuning, and a more exclusive identity suggest a car designed to chase lap records, not comfort.

From “Ride the Wind” to “Z-RS”
The early name suggestions reveal just how wide the creative net has been cast. One set leans poetic, with Chinese-inspired names translating roughly to “Ride the Wind,” “Bask in the Wind,” and “Command the Wind.” Another goes minimalist and playful, using English words like “FUN,” “FREE,” and “FLY.”
Then there’s the performance-driven angle—badges like “Z-ONE,” “Z-RS,” and “S-719” that feel closer to traditional sports car naming conventions. None of these are final, but they hint at the multiple identities Denza is exploring.
Underneath the naming exercise sits a serious piece of machinery. First revealed as a concept at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2025, the Denza Z is a two-door supercar penned by veteran designer Wolfgang Egger. Its sculpted rear haunches and aggressive stance immediately signaled intent.
Later sightings of pre-production cars in China confirmed both coupe and convertible forms, closely mirroring the concept. Some details have evolved—the oversized rear wing seen earlier has disappeared—but the overall silhouette remains intact, complete with frameless windows and distinctive dual-element taillights.
Performance is where things get especially interesting. The Z is expected to use BYD’s DiSus-M suspension system, capable of adjusting body control in just 10 milliseconds using real-time sensor data. Testing is reportedly underway at the Nürburgring, and whispers suggest output could exceed 1,000 horsepower.
So yes, the name is still up in the air. But the intent? That’s already crystal clear.

Is this even true? Public votes to pick badges now? Smells like marketing, but DiSus-M 10ms body control and Nurburgring testing sound legit. Hope they avoid cringe names lol

Wow no final name? wild move by Denza. Public naming for a 1,000hp supercar, bold and kinda risky. If Nurburgring testing is real then...
