Motorola looks ready to make a style statement, and this time the company may be leaning on finishes and textures as much as hardware. The upcoming Edge 70 Pro and Razr 70 Ultra are rumored to arrive in some of the most distinctive color options seen on any Android phone this year, the kind of design choices that make a device stand out before it even powers on.
That matters. In a market packed with polished glass slabs and safe color palettes, Motorola seems to be chasing something a little bolder, a little more tactile, and a lot more memorable.
A wooden finish on a mid-range phone?
The Edge 70 Pro is said to include a wood-textured version, which would give Motorola’s next mid-range phone a refreshingly different identity. It would not be the first time the company has explored that look, either. Last year’s Edge 60 Pro came in several Pantone-branded finishes, including Dazzling Blue, Shadow, Sparkling Grape, and Walnut, and the new wooden option appears set to continue that design language.
Alongside it, the Edge 70 Pro is also expected to show up in Pantone Titan, described as a blue model with a nylon-like textured back, and Pantone Zinfandel, a matte brushed red finish that sounds more luxurious than your typical mid-range handset. Add a quad-curved display into the mix, and Motorola may have one of the most eye-catching 5G phones in its price class.
For buyers who care as much about feel and finish as raw specs, the Edge 70 Pro could be one of the most interesting Android phones of the year.
The foldable everyone will be watching
The Razr 70 Ultra, also expected to launch as the Razr Ultra (2026), is shaping up to be the more attention-grabbing device of the two. Recent leaks have already pointed to high-end render images, and now fresh color reports suggest Motorola is preparing Pantone Orient Blue and Pantone Cocoa versions.
The Orient Blue model is said to feature vegan leather with a diamond stitch pattern, while Cocoa may carry the same wood-textured treatment seen on one of the Edge 70 Pro variants. Either way, this does not sound like a phone meant to blend in.
In fact, Motorola may be aiming for a clamshell that looks even more striking than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7, at least in terms of personality and visual appeal. The trade-off, according to the leaks, is a thicker body. Still, that extra bulk could be a sign that Motorola is packing in a larger battery, which would be a welcome move for foldable fans tired of charging anxiety.
Specs are still blurry, but pricing will decide everything
Details on the Edge 70 Pro remain limited, while the Razr 70 Ultra is a little easier to picture. Reports suggest it will measure 171.3 x 74.1 x 7.8mm when unfolded and 88 x 74.1 x 15.8mm when folded, making it slightly shorter and wider than the Razr 60 Ultra, but noticeably thicker.
That extra thickness has fueled speculation that Motorola could push battery capacity beyond the current 4,700mAh level, and perhaps even cross the 5,000mAh mark. If that happens, it would give the Razr series a serious advantage in everyday use and put more pressure on rivals in the foldable space.
The biggest question, though, is still price. The Edge 60 Pro launched in Europe at €699 with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and any meaningful increase would make the Edge 70 Pro harder to sell to mainstream buyers. As for the Razr 70 Ultra, it is expected to arrive in the US and Europe, but if the starting price climbs above $1,299.99, Motorola may struggle to justify the upgrade, especially after the first Razr Ultra has been heavily discounted for months.
Right now, the phones sound promising. Very promising. But in the end, looks can only carry a device so far. If Motorola gets the pricing right, these colorful new models could land with real impact. If not, all that beautiful wood grain and textured leather might end up being the most memorable thing about them.

Feels a bit overhyped, wood and vegan leather sound nice but thicker body? Battery gain fine, yet foldables need slimmer to win. we'll see

Wow a wooden back! Love the vibe, tactile choices beat yet another glass slab. But if price spikes, it's dead on arrival...
