Hyundai may be about to turn the page on one of its most recognizable design signatures. The brand has started teasing two new concept cars, and if these shadows are anything to go by, the next chapter for Ioniq EVs could look a lot cleaner, sharper, and less pixel-heavy.
The pair is called Venus and Earth, two names that sound almost theatrical for a brand better known for precision than poetry. Hyundai has not said which image belongs to which concept, but it has made one thing clear: this is being framed as the start of something bigger for Ioniq.
“Designed as a cosmic statement. Engineered for humans. Marking another beginning of Ioniq’s grand narrative.” That is the line attached to the teaser, and it gives the whole reveal a deliberately ambitious tone.
One of the images shows a gold-colored car from the rear. The body is clean and tightly sculpted, with a black center section across the rear fascia and slim taillights that barely interrupt the metalwork. There is a subtle lip spoiler, while the roofline flows down into a fastback shape that gives the car a sleek, almost coupe-like stance.

The second teaser is even more revealing in its own way. It shows the front of a silver vehicle with a very short hood, a deeply raked windshield, and lighting made up of a thin horizontal LED strip paired with two angled elements that create an arrow-like shape. The sharp creases around the front doors echo that same forward motion, giving the concept a sense of tension even while it stands still.
The black cladding around the wheel arch suggests this one could be an SUV, though Hyundai is keeping the body style under wraps for now. The cab-forward proportions also bring to mind Kia’s recent Meta Turismo concept, which is no bad company to be in if the goal is to make a strong first impression.
What stands out most is the direction. Hyundai’s Ioniq models, from the Ioniq 5 to the Ioniq 9, have earned plenty of praise for their driving range, fast charging, and balanced road manners. The discontinued Ioniq 6 also carried the same retrofuturistic flair, built around pixel lighting and crisp surfacing. These new concepts, however, suggest Hyundai may be moving toward a more restrained and more mature visual language.
That could be a smart move. Pixel-themed lighting helped define the brand’s EV identity, but design trends do not sit still for long. If Venus and Earth preview the next generation of Ioniq styling, expect simpler lighting, cleaner surfaces, and a more global, less nostalgic look.
Hyundai has not yet said when or where the concepts will be shown, but two April events look like natural candidates: the Beijing auto show and Milan Design Week. Either stage would suit a reveal like this. For now, all we have are two names, a pair of cryptic images, and the sense that Hyundai is preparing to rethink what an Ioniq EV should look like.

is this even true? sleek, almost too safe. hoping they keep some character, not just bland globalized design. hmm

Whoa, Venus and Earth? sounds like Hyundai got poetic. Clean lines look promising, but will the soul vanish with pixels gone? curious...
