The next Ford Bronco facelift may be hiding more than a fresh grille. Spy shots of a prototype Badlands model suggest Ford is quietly testing a broader round of updates, and the changes are enough to make enthusiasts sit up and take notice.
At first glance, the SUV looks familiar. Look closer, though, and the details start to tell a different story. Up front, there is a new grille with a tighter mesh pattern and updated Bronco lettering, giving the face a sharper, more modern look without straying too far from the trucky character that has made the nameplate such a hit.
The prototype also rolls on a new set of wheels that appear to measure 17 inches. They are wrapped in chunky Goodyear Territory RT tires and seem to be beadlock-capable, a clue that Ford is still thinking seriously about off-road hardware rather than just cosmetic changes.
Small details, big clues
There is more going on around the body, too. The fender flares look lightly revised and seem closely related to the ones used on the current Sasquatch Package. The front pieces are flatter at the outer edge, while the rear lower sections appear thicker and more uniform than before. It is the kind of subtle reshaping that most buyers may never spot from a distance, but off-road fans will.
Inside, the changes are even more interesting. The dashboard appears to be wrapped and finished with contrast stitching, a more upscale touch that adds a bit of polish to the cabin. That detail is especially notable because it does not appear on the 2027 Bronco RTR, raising the possibility that Ford is preparing a new trim-specific feature or option for higher-end versions of the SUV.
For now, Ford is keeping the rest of the story under wraps. Even so, there is already one major clue about where the Bronco line could be headed next. CEO Jim Farley has recently reaffirmed Ford’s plans for a Bronco Hybrid, reviving a project that was first announced back in 2018 before being pushed aside as the company focused heavily on battery-electric vehicles. With Ford now leaning back into hybrids, the idea looks alive again.
The testing itself may also point to more than visual updates. Spy photographers reportedly caught the prototype running over rough surfaces and articulation challenges designed to stress suspension geometry, approach angles, and departure angles. Green plastic components were visible bolted underneath the vehicle, a sign that Ford was likely collecting data during a serious development session rather than just putting on a simple road test.
So while the grille may be the first thing people notice, it is probably not the most important. The latest Bronco prototype suggests Ford is preparing a more considered refresh, one that could touch the exterior, the cabin, and possibly the powertrain strategy as well. And that makes this one very interesting trail ahead.

Wow, didn't expect a hybrid hint + beadlock-capable wheels... If Ford pulls this off, Bronco's gonna be wild. Fingers crossed but kinda skeptical lol
