Xpeng has turned up the heat on its next big launch, releasing a fresh set of official images of the GX SUV on Weibo and giving the market another look at what could become its most important model yet. The new photos highlight grey and gold exterior finishes, a deliberate teaser for a flagship electric SUV that is clearly being positioned as a statement piece.
The company says the GX is built for the “physical AI” era, language that sounds lofty because Xpeng clearly wants this SUV to feel like more than just another large electric vehicle. In the brand’s telling, this is a machine meant to redefine modern luxury through software, intelligence, and high-end technology.
The proportions tell their own story. Internally known as G01, the six-seat SUV carries a side profile that immediately brings Range Rover to mind, while underneath it rides on Xpeng’s new SEPA 3.0 Smart Electric Platform Architecture. It is also set to feature steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering, two technologies that should sharpen both maneuverability and the overall premium feel.

A Flagship Built To Outsmart The Segment
Xpeng describes the GX as a “super intelligent entity,” which may sound theatrical, but the hardware backing it up is serious. According to local reporting, the SUV is being tested with L4 autonomous driving capability and uses four Turing chips for an effective computing power of 3,000 TOPS. That is a huge number by any measure, and it signals just how ambitious Xpeng is with this model.
Size matters here too. The GX stretches 5,265 mm in length and rides on a 3,115 mm wheelbase, placing it firmly in full-size SUV territory. Xpeng says the cabin inherits the comfort-first character of the X9 MPV, suggesting a focus on spaciousness and family-friendly luxury rather than brute visual drama alone.
Powertrain choices should give the GX broader appeal. Filing documents from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology show that Xpeng plans both battery-electric and extended-range versions. The EREV models will reportedly pair a 1.5-liter engine with dual motors as a range extender setup, while the BEV lineup will offer rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive variants with a top speed of 200 km/h.

Price positioning will be crucial. The GX is expected to sit above the current G9 in Xpeng’s lineup and could land in the 400,000 yuan to 500,000 yuan bracket, or roughly $58,560 to $73,200. That places it squarely in premium luxury territory, where the competition is far less forgiving and the customer expectations are much higher.
For context, the existing G9 starts at 248,800 yuan and tops out at 278,800 yuan in China. The GX, then, is not just a replacement or a refresh. It looks like a leap.
The timing is no accident either. Xpeng’s latest teaser arrives just one day before Nio is due to unveil its own flagship electric SUV, the ES9. That model is expected to succeed the ES8, which starts at 406,800 yuan, as Nio pushes deeper into the upper end of the market. In other words, the premium EV race in China is getting even more intense, and both brands know exactly what is at stake.

Looks flashy, Range Rover vibes for sure. Price 400,000 to 500,000 yuan tho? feels overhyped but curious. Steer-by-wire + EREV sounds neat, if it actually works

Is this even true? 3,000 TOPS and L4 testing sounds insane... but can software alone make a 5.265m SUV feel premium? hmm
