BYD’s new Seal 08 electric sedan has surfaced in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filings, and the numbers are hard to ignore. This is no ordinary EV sedan. It’s a full-size flagship built to make a statement, with power, range and charging tech aimed straight at the premium end of the market.
The most eye-catching version is the dual-motor all-wheel-drive model. Up front, the motor delivers 190 kW, or 255 hp, while the rear motor adds 320 kW, or 429 hp. Together, they produce a hefty 510 kW, which works out to 684 hp. That is serious performance by any standard, especially for an electric sedan. Buyers will also reportedly get single-motor rear-wheel-drive options rated at 320 kW and 255 kW.
The Seal 08 is a large car, and it wears its size proudly. It measures 5,150 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,505 mm high, riding on a 3,030 mm wheelbase. The curb weight comes in at 2,040 kg, and top speed is listed at 240 km/h. It runs on 245/45R19 tyres, which should suit the car’s upscale, performance-focused character.
Under the floor sits lithium iron phosphate battery technology, part of BYD’s latest Blade Battery 2.0 strategy. Battery cells are supplied by Hefei BYD Industrial Co., Ltd., while the pack is assembled by Xiangyang FinDreams Battery Co., Ltd. The real headline, though, is the platform underneath it all. The Seal 08 is built on an 800V architecture, which is designed to support ultra-fast charging and better efficiency at a high level.

The promise is simple: over 1,000 km of electric range and charging speeds that sound almost unreal.
BYD says the second-generation Blade Battery should help push the Seal 08 beyond 1,000 km of pure electric driving range. Even more striking is the brand’s megawatt-level flash charging system, which is claimed to add 400 km of range in just five minutes. If those figures hold up in production, the Seal 08 could become one of the most compelling long-range EVs in the segment.
The tech story does not stop there. Rear-wheel steering is included to improve low-speed agility and make the big sedan feel more manageable in tight spaces. The DiSus-A intelligent body control system is also on board, which should help balance ride comfort and handling. On the roof sits a LiDAR unit, supporting BYD’s God’s Eye B, also known as DiPilot 300, advanced driver assistance system.
The Seal 08 was first revealed at BYD’s Blade Battery 2.0 event on March 5, and its appearance in the official catalog suggests launch preparations are now moving quickly. It is part of BYD’s Ocean 8 Series Dual Flagship lineup, alongside the Sealion 08 SUV. Both were announced in December 2025, although the Sealion 08 remains hidden under camouflage for now.
For BYD, the Seal 08 is more than another electric sedan. It is a clear signal of where the company wants to go next: bigger batteries, faster charging, smarter chassis tech and enough power to challenge the best-known names in the EV world.

Is that 400 km in 5 minutes for real? Sounds borderline sci-fi, need independent tests. 800V + Blade2.0 could be huge though

Wow, 684 hp and 1,000+ km? If BYD actually delivers that charging in 5 mins it's game over for many brands. skeptical tho, wait for reviews
