The next BYD Atto 3 looks set to feel like a very different car from the inside. Fresh spy images from China reveal a redesigned cabin that moves the compact electric SUV closer to BYD’s latest Dynasty design language, hinting at a more polished, more unified interior ahead of its expected launch in May.
A cleaner cabin, and a clear shift in direction
The current Atto 3 has always stood out for its quirky, almost playful cabin layout. This update seems to pull back on that personality. The leaked interior shows a simpler dashboard, a tidier center console, and a more horizontal design theme that has become a signature of BYD’s newer models.
It is a subtler look, but not a dull one. The wider visual stance created by the layered dashboard should make the cabin feel more spacious, while the overall layout appears designed to bring the Atto 3 in line with the rest of the brand’s rapidly evolving lineup.
BYD has not yet revealed full details about the infotainment system or cabin materials, but the message is easy to read. The company is tightening up its interior identity, and the Atto 3 is clearly being pulled into that same family style.

More than a fresh face
The changes go beyond soft trim and new screen placement. Regulatory data already points to a substantial technical upgrade for the updated Atto 3, including two battery choices rated at 57.545 kWh and 68.547 kWh. On the CLTC cycle, those packs are expected to deliver ranges of 540 km and 630 km.
Perhaps more interesting is the move to BYD’s second-generation Blade battery, along with support for flash charging. Reported charging figures are eye-catching: 10% to 70% in five minutes, and up to 97% in nine minutes. Even in cold-weather conditions as low as -30°C, the charging time only rises by about three minutes. That is the sort of headline number that gets attention fast.
The electric motor will sit at the rear, with outputs of 200 kW and 240 kW listed for different versions. That points to a clear shift toward rear-wheel drive, which is a meaningful mechanical change for the Atto 3 and a sign that BYD is moving the model onto a more advanced EV platform.
Bigger, sharper, and more modern
The exterior is also getting a proper rethink. The updated Atto 3 stretches to 4665 mm in length with a 2770 mm wheelbase, giving it more presence on the road. Up front, the nose has been reshaped, the headlights look slimmer, and the rear now features a full-width light strip integrated into a decorative panel.
It is the kind of update that does not just refresh a model. It changes its character.
That matters, especially because the current Atto 3 has lost momentum in China. According to China EV DataTracker, sales in the first quarter of 2026 reached 10,675 units, down 73.2 percent year on year. Monthly deliveries have dropped to around 2,000 units in early 2026, a far cry from the days when the nameplate regularly moved more than 10,000 units in a month.
Chinese reports suggest the revised Atto 3 could be unveiled around May, with a public appearance likely tied to the Beijing Auto Show. BYD has not confirmed the timing yet, but the signs are lining up. And when they do, this SUV may arrive looking far more serious than the old one ever did.

Nice cleaner cabin, but losing the quirky vibe. hope they didn't strip the fun out, Atto3 needs personality.

Rear motor and 10%->70% in five mins? sounds insane, but is that real in daily use, or lab numbers? if that's real then...
