Xiaomi has quietly turned one of its newest tablets into something more pointed, more practical and, frankly, more ambitious. The Redmi Pad 2 Pro Learning Edition has arrived in China, and this time the company is not just selling a tablet. It is selling a study companion.

At first glance, the hardware looks familiar because it is. The Learning Edition is built on the same Redmi Pad 2 Pro platform that launched in September 2025, which means buyers get a 12.1-inch display with 2.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi has also added matte glass to cut glare, a small but meaningful touch for anyone who has spent hours staring at notes, PDFs or online lectures. Under the hood sits the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, paired in this version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The battery is just as serious. Xiaomi has packed in a 12,000mAh cell, supported by 33W wired charging and 27W reverse wired charging. That last part may sound like a footnote, but it means the tablet can act as a power source for other devices when needed. Handy. Especially on the move.

Built for the classroom, not just the couch

Where the Redmi Pad 2 Pro Learning Edition really separates itself is in the extras. Xiaomi includes a rugged protective case and a stylus in the box, so students do not have to chase down accessories after purchase. The case comes with a latch, a built-in stylus holder and a foldable cover that doubles as a stand. Simple. Smart. Exactly the kind of detail parents and teachers tend to appreciate.

The bigger story, though, is software. Xiaomi has loaded the tablet with education-focused tools designed to make learning feel a little less lonely and a lot more interactive. There is an AI teacher that responds in real time, letting students ask questions during lessons instead of waiting until the end. Then there is a homework-checking feature that can review assignments with a single tap, offer feedback and highlight weak spots that need more attention.

That is where the tablet starts to feel less like a media device and more like a digital tutor.

To deepen that classroom pitch, Xiaomi is also bundling a three-year subscription to the Xiaomi Education Center. The package includes textbooks, more than 150,000 lessons and structured study plans, giving the device a broader academic role than most mainstream tablets ever attempt.

Pricing, however, tells the other half of the story. The Redmi Pad 2 Pro Learning Edition costs CNY 2699, which is a noticeable jump from the standard version’s CNY 1799 price tag for the same memory configuration. That premium reflects the bundled accessories and software extras, but it will still be a question mark for buyers weighing value against versatility.

For now, Xiaomi has only confirmed the tablet for China. A wider release has not been announced, although the company has taken similar kid and education-focused tablets beyond its home market before. If that happens again, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro Learning Edition could become one of Xiaomi’s more interesting plays in the growing edtech space.

Nice hardware, but is the AI teacher actually helpful or just flashy? 3yr subscription sounds like vendor lockin, parents should ask about offline use, backups?

Wait, an AI teacher + 3 years of lessons built in? Xiaomi actually aiming high here. Matte glass and huge battery nice, but CNY 2699... if thats real then...
