The Xiaomi YU7 GT is almost here, and it looks like the Chinese tech giant is not planning to play it safe. Set for an official debut in late May, the high-performance SUV was teased at the Beijing Auto Show and is already drawing attention for one simple reason: it pairs family-sized practicality with supercar-rivalling numbers.
Much of the YU7 GT’s shape carries over from the standard YU7, but Xiaomi has clearly sharpened the edges. Expect new paint options, a more aggressive aero package, and upgraded hardware underneath. The model first surfaced in regulatory filings back in February, and now the picture is becoming much clearer.
Sharper, lower, louder
Visually, the YU7 GT leans hard into the performance theme. A new Cherry Red finish gives it a more dramatic presence, while the front end features Xiaomi’s familiar water-drop headlights with a hollowed-out treatment. There is also a prominent front splitter, a larger rear diffuser, and huge brake calipers that leave little doubt about its intentions.
Buyers will reportedly be able to spec an optional 24K carbon fibre badge, along with 295/40 R22 tyres for an even more planted stance. Down the side, the SUV follows a low-drag profile similar to the Xiaomi SU7, with frameless mirrors, electric flush door handles, and 10 through-air channels made up of 19 vents. The wide arches and 21-inch wheels complete the look.
The dimensions are substantial, as expected from a performance SUV:
- Length: 5,015 mm
- Width: 2,007 mm
- Height: 1,597 mm
- Wheelbase: 3,000 mm
- Curb weight: 2,460 kg
At the rear, Xiaomi keeps the familiar SU7-inspired formula alive with a ducktail spoiler and halo-style taillights, but the GT gets a more dramatic vertical-blade diffuser and exclusive badging to make sure it stands apart.

990 hp and a 300 km/h top speed
This is where the YU7 GT stops being just another electric SUV and starts sounding properly serious. Xiaomi has fitted it with a dual-motor setup that produces 288 kW, or 386 hp, at the front and 450 kW, or 604 hp, at the rear. Combined output lands at a massive 738 kW, which translates to 990 hp.
That kind of power puts the YU7 GT in rare company. Claimed range on the CLTC cycle is 705 km, while top speed is quoted at 300 km/h. For an SUV weighing 2,460 kg, those numbers are not just impressive, they are borderline outrageous.
Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO, has called the model a “pure-blooded GT,” describing it as a sports car-level SUV built for both fast road driving and long-distance comfort. Xiaomi also says the vehicle was tuned at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, a clear signal that it wants handling to match the headline figures.
Under the skin, the YU7 GT gets a serious chassis package. Air suspension, an active ride stability system, rear-axle torque vectoring, and advanced traction control are all part of the mix. Braking comes courtesy of Brembo carbon-ceramic hardware, supported by regenerative braking.
The timing is interesting too. Xiaomi’s SU7 generated a flood of orders when it launched, but as those deliveries have been filled, sales have started to ease in recent months. The YU7 GT could be exactly the kind of halo model the brand needs to keep momentum alive. Fast, loud, and packed with hardware, it is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about electric performance SUVs of the year.

Is 705 km CLTC for a 2460kg, 990hp SUV even real? sounds like lab numbers vs real world... curious how it handles on wet roads
