Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric Brings Big Power, Sleek Lines

Porsche has taken the wraps off the Cayenne Coupe Electric, and the message is clear enough: if the standard Cayenne Electric was the big statement, this is the sharper one. Lower, sleeker, and more dramatic from every angle, the coupe-SUV version is here to tempt buyers who want their family hauler with a little more theater.

That formula has worked for Porsche before, and the brand is betting it will work again. The Cayenne Coupe Electric keeps the same basic hardware as the regular electric Cayenne, including the 800-volt architecture, the adaptive two-chamber air suspension, and the same choice of powertrains. What changes is the shape. The roofline now sweeps down in true fastback fashion, echoing the 911’s influence and giving the SUV a far more athletic stance.

Sleeker body, same serious punch

At a glance, the coupe version looks more focused, and Porsche has leaned into that personality with standard Sport Chrono equipment and a panoramic glass roof. The tradeoff is predictable: a little less rear headroom, a little less cargo space. But Porsche clearly believes the dramatic silhouette will win that argument for plenty of buyers.

Under the skin, nothing feels watered down. The Cayenne Coupe Electric arrives in three trims: the standard model, the Cayenne S Coupe Electric, and the Cayenne Turbo Coupe Electric. Output starts at 435 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque, rises to 657 hp and 796 lb-ft in the S, and climbs all the way to 1,139 hp and 1,106 lb-ft in Turbo form. That is wild territory for a two-row luxury SUV, coupe or not.

The numbers back up the drama. Porsche says the base car will hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, the S in 3.6 seconds, and the Turbo in just 2.4 seconds. Top speed ranges from 143 mph to 162 mph, depending on trim. In other words, this is no fashion piece. It is very much a Porsche.

Charging is just as serious. The 113 kWh battery can accept up to 400 kW on an 800-volt charger, which means a 10 to 80 percent top-up takes less than 16 minutes under ideal conditions. For North America, Porsche has also fitted the Cayenne Coupe Electric with a NACS port on the driver’s side and a J1772 AC port on the passenger side, with a CCS adapter included as standard.

The coupe body style also brings real aerodynamic benefits. Porsche says the Cayenne Coupe Electric sits 24 mm lower than the SUV and posts a drag coefficient of 0.23, compared with 0.25 for the regular model. That may not sound like much, but in the world of electric range and high-speed stability, every fraction counts.

And for anyone wondering whether this means the gasoline and plug-in hybrid versions are on the way out, Porsche has already answered that one. They are staying. The brand says the combustion and hybrid Cayenne Coupe models will continue alongside the new electric version, giving buyers a broader spread of choices than ever.

Pricing starts at $113,800 for the Cayenne Coupe Electric, climbs to $131,200 for the Cayenne S Coupe Electric, and reaches $168,000 for the Turbo. Add in Porsche’s $2,350 delivery, processing, and handling fee, and the final number moves quickly. But then, that has never stopped a Cayenne buyer before.

Sleek and quick, sure, but $168k for the Turbo? Real world charging, winter range and loss of cargo space matter. Not my cup of tea
