New Renders Show a Better Future for AMG GT 4-Door

New Instagram renderings recast the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe with a calmer, CLS-like profile. The redesign smooths the nose and tail, while the electric sedan keeps its staggering performance and long-range credentials.

Reading time: 3 Minutes

Stare at one of these new images for a few seconds and the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe you thought you knew slips into something sleeker, more coherent, almost familiar. It wears a face that could have been born from the late CLS lineage. That similarity is not a criticism. It is a salve.

What the pixel artist changed, and why it matters

The overhaul begins up front. The rendering swaps the polarizing, angular nose for a more conventional grille silhouette and a pair of star-like headlamps that read as purposeful rather than theatrical. The bumper is quieter, the stance more composed. At the rear the oddball elements are gone. In their place: a slim central panel, twin star-shaped taillights and a continuous light bar that tethers one quarter panel to the other. The diffuser and bumper have been softened and proportioned to match the rest of the car.

There are echoes of the Vision Iconic Concept here. Not a copy, but a borrowed cadence — especially in the grille treatment — that calms the GT 4-Door's previously aggressive theatrics. Colors and wheel designs in the portfolio help, too. Seen from different angles and in varied light, the reimagined GT looks deliberate rather than designed-to-shock.

Why does this matter? Because styling can alter perception. A car as heavy and technically ambitious as this one needs a skin that sells its purpose: high performance, high tech and, yes, a measure of refinement. The renderings suggest Mercedes-AMG could have dialed the visual temperature down without diluting the message.

The numbers behind the glamour remain intimidating. The range-topping GT 63 4Matic+ serves up up to 1,153 horsepower and 2,000 Nm of torque, which translates to a 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) sprint in 2.1 seconds with the one-foot rollout; without that trick the time slips by three tenths. Top speed is electronically limited to 186 mph (300 kph) when the AMG Driver's Pack is selected.

Weight is part of the equation. The fully electric GT tips the scales at about 2,460 kg, heavier than many expect and heavier than an entry-level pickup. It rides on an 800-volt architecture built on AMG.EA underpinnings and draws from a 106 kWh battery. The trio of advanced axial flux motors are the reason for the insane performance, and the charging story is competitive: at 600 kW, the pack can replenish from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 11 minutes. Range estimates land around 435 miles (700 km) for the GT 55 and 432 miles (696 km) for the GT 63, figures that matter in the way a long stride matters when you want to cross ground without stopping.

Price tags in Europe start at €154,700 for the GT 55 and €196,350 for the GT 63. Final local figures will be confirmed in due course.

There is a lesson hiding inside these virtual revisions. The core of AMG's electric hyper sedan is uncompromising: performance-first packaging, weight and scale that speak of serious engineering. But aesthetics steer desire. A restrained grille here, a tidier tail there, and suddenly the same machine reads as more elegant and attainable. That might not change sales overnight, but it does highlight how a different design language could have softened some controversy and sharpened appeal.

Ultimately, these renderings are a reminder that style choices are strategic. The GT 4-Door Coupe remains an audacious engineering statement. Yet the pixel artist who reimagined it gave us something else: proof that a subtler hand could have turned an already extreme EV into a shape that tempts more buyers to look twice.

Is that 700 km realistic though? 2460 kg + 106 kWh, charging 10-80 in 11 mins at 600kW 🤔 Sounds great on paper but where's the infrastructure, how often?

Whoa that render calms the GT, really sleek now. Feels grown up, less shouty. Still kinda bulky though, weight kills the vibe.
