Xiaomi's next flagship, the 17 Ultra, is shaping up to be a serious camera and connectivity upgrade. Recent Chinese certifications reveal two distinct variants — both with UWB, and one with dual-satellite support — plus high-end camera hardware and top-tier specs.
Two variants, one big connectivity leap
Leaker Digital Chat Station shared a roundup of phones that recently hit Chinese certification, and Xiaomi 17 Ultra stands out for coming in two registered models: 2512BPNDAC and 25128PNA1C. Both variants will include Ultra-Wideband (UWB) functionality, but the higher-end SKU adds satellite connectivity — reportedly supporting Tiantong voice calls and Beidou short messages. That means emergency calling and messaging where terrestrial networks are absent, useful in remote deserts, at sea, or during disasters.
What to expect under the hood
Early reports sketch a familiar flagship formula: a large circular camera island on the rear, a flat 6.8-inch OLED display with 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, plus wireless charging and IP68 water resistance. Power is expected from Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, and Xiaomi is said to pack in a high-capacity battery to match the phone’s power demands.

Camera system aims to be the headline
Camera performance appears to be the 17 Ultra’s main selling point. Leaks suggest a 50MP main sensor that’s larger and improved, with in-sensor zoom capabilities, supported by a periscope telephoto unit reportedly reaching 200MP and offering multiple focal lengths and macro shooting. Together those lenses should deliver wider dynamic range and higher detail across varied lighting conditions — a real plus for mobile photographers.
Colors, launch window and price hints
Sources say Xiaomi will offer the 17 Ultra in black, white and purple, and the phone could arrive before the Chinese New Year. The base or standard version is estimated to start around $845, while the satellite-capable, feature-packed variant will likely carry a premium.
- Two registered models: 2512BPNDAC and 25128PNA1C
- UWB on both variants; Tiantong and Beidou satellite support on the high-end model
- 6.8" flat OLED, 2K, 120Hz display
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, wireless charging, IP68
- 50MP main sensor + 200MP periscope telephoto with multi-focal capabilities
Whether Xiaomi nails the software tuning for that ambitious camera hardware and how much the satellite features will cost remain open questions — but the 17 Ultra is clearly positioned as a top-tier contender in Xiaomi’s flagship lineup.
