Samsung has started rolling out its One UI 8 Watch upgrade—built on Wear OS 6—to the Galaxy Watch FE, continuing a slow but steady update wave that began in July. The release arrives first in Korea and brings the familiar Wear OS refresh to Samsung's budget-friendly re-release of the Watch4.
Rollout details and what’s included
The update is currently seeding in South Korea under firmware version R861XXU1CYK6. It carries the October 2025 security patch, which is a bit dated for December, but still delivers the One UI 8 Watch experience: UI refinements, stability improvements, and Wear OS 6 platform features under the hood.
If the initial Korean rollout is stable and no major bugs appear, Samsung is likely to widen the distribution to other regions in the coming days or weeks. These staged rollouts are common for smartwatch updates, letting Samsung catch and address problems before a global push.

How to install the update on your Galaxy Watch FE
If you’re in Korea and want to try the update now, open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone and follow these steps:
- Tap Watch settings
- Go to Watch software update
- Tap Download and install
Make sure your watch and phone are charged and close together during the update. If you don’t see the update yet, check again later—staged rollouts can take time to reach every device.
The Galaxy Watch FE launched in 2024 as a lower-cost alternative that essentially repackaged the Galaxy Watch4. With One UI 8 Watch on Wear OS 6, owners get a refreshed interface and the broader app and service improvements that come with the newer Wear OS base—just keep in mind the patched security date in this build is October 2025.
