Meta Muse Charm: Pocket AI device for Muse access Now

At Meta Connect on September 24, 2026, Meta introduced the Muse Charm, a pocket-sized, always-on handheld for talking to Muse, the company’s AI assistant. Mark Zuckerberg presented the device as a way for people who do not wear Meta’s smart glasses to reach Muse quickly without putting on a pair; Meta’s glasses lineup includes the Meta Ray-Ban Display, launched last year. Meta says the Muse Charm will ship before the December holidays and that it will share pricing and additional details later.

Design, hardware and how it works

The Muse Charm’s design, which has been likened to a 1990s electronic pet, comes from a new Meta design lab reportedly led by Alan Dye, Apple’s former UI design chief, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The device has a roughly 2-inch OLED display and runs a new operating system. When you power it on, a virtual Muse avatar appears in the center of the screen and can be customized for appearance, clothing and voice.

The Charm is intended to be worn on a wristband, carried in a pocket or attached to a bag or keychain with a lanyard. Its semi-transparent casing reveals internal circuitry through the back and sides. Two Muse Charm units will reportedly recognize and interact with each other when their owners are nearby.

Inside, the Muse Charm includes a 5G modem so it can connect to cellular networks when Wi-Fi is unavailable. Meta says the device behaves like a phone in many respects but cannot make traditional phone or video calls. It also offers a fingerprint sensor for unlocking, front and rear cameras for photos and video primarily to provide Muse with visual information, and a screen view of what you’ve captured. The device plays music and video and provides a speaker, microphone and a USB-C port for charging.

Software updates, timing and price guidance

Alongside the Muse Charm, Meta announced a set of updates to Muse itself. Meta says users will be able to make video calls with a customizable AI avatar that responds in real time, and that the Muse agent will receive its own email address so it can complete tasks and communicate directly. Meta has not provided technical limits for these features.

Meta originally planned to release the Muse Charm in 2027, but sources say Zuckerberg pushed the schedule so the product would be available by the end of 2026. The same sources say Meta intends to price the Muse Charm similarly to a smartwatch, though Meta has not finalized pricing or details for mobile carrier access.
