Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says Apple's long-rumored OLED MacBook Pro, which would be the company's first laptop with a touchscreen, may not end up significantly thinner than current models.
Gurman's updated view on thickness
According to Gurman at Bloomberg, his latest reporting contradicts his earlier predictions about a markedly thinner chassis. He now says he does not think "it'll be significantly thinner in the end."

Current MacBook Pro dimensions for comparison
For reference, the current MacBook Pro 14 inch measures 15.5 millimetres thick and weighs between 1.55 kilograms and 1.62 kilograms. The 16 inch model is 16.8 millimetres thick and weighs between 2.14 kilograms and 2.15 kilograms. There is therefore room for Apple to make future MacBook Pro models lighter and perhaps slightly thinner, though Gurman’s latest comments suggest a major reduction in thickness is unlikely.
Reported launch timing, chips and software
A few days earlier, Gurman said Apple plans to launch 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro models with OLED touchscreens sometime in November. He reported the new machines should be powered by Apple’s M6 series chips and ship with macOS 27.2 pre-installed.
