Qualcomm Names Samsung Key Partner for Personal AI

Qualcomm has named Samsung a key partner in its push to expand a personal AI ecosystem beyond smartphones, focusing on categories such as smartwatches, XR headsets and smart glasses.

Partnership focus and device categories

Qualcomm said the collaboration moves beyond chip optimization for flagship phones and will concentrate on new device categories including smartwatches, extended reality headsets and smart glasses. The companies intend to integrate Qualcomm silicon and Samsung hardware expertise to support personal AI experiences on those device types.

Announcements at Snapdragon Summit 2026

The designation was highlighted at Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit 2026 in Hawaii. Qualcomm noted its chips already appear in a range of products including laptops, automobiles and wearable gadgets, and said partnering with Samsung provides a platform to deliver more advanced experiences.

Ziyad Asghar, senior vice president and general manager of XR, wearable devices and personal AI at Qualcomm, said: "Samsung plays an important role in expanding the personal AI ecosystem. We have a long-standing partnership that has created iconic mobile experiences globally."

Products and timing

Qualcomm said the first smart glasses produced through collaboration between Qualcomm, Samsung and Google will arrive soon. Samsung is also developing its Galaxy Glasses smart glasses and separate augmented reality glasses that Qualcomm said are expected to ship next year.
