Samsung has introduced the Galaxy SmartTag 3, a smaller, lighter tracker that for the first time works with iOS devices as well as Samsung phones. The company positions the change as the key development: SmartTag 3 joins the SmartThings Find network and can now be used across households that mix iPhones and Android phones.

The new tracker is 35% smaller in volume and 33% lighter than the SmartTag 2, with a rounded profile, an aluminum button and an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. According to Samsung, the battery lasts up to 550 days on standard settings and up to 790 days when the device is placed in power-saving mode.

SmartTag 3 is the first Samsung tracker to work with iOS through SmartThings Find.

Samsung says that iOS devices can connect to SmartThings Find so owners can track the same items, review location history and use local search functions without needing a specific phone brand. The company frames that interoperability as a practical fix for mixed-device households.

For locating items, the tracker uses Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding. Samsung claims the standard lets the app display distance and direction from as far as 60 meters away, roughly three times the range of the previous model. When you are closer to the tag, the device switches to ultra-wideband for more precise positioning.

If a tag moves outside a phone’s Bluetooth range, it falls back to the Galaxy Find Network. That system relies on other opted-in Samsung devices nearby to securely relay the tag’s location back to the owner.

On the software side, SmartTag 3 supports Place Notifications for alerts when a tag enters or leaves a designated area, movement detection alerts, Left Behind alerts when a phone disconnects from a tag, and a log of location history. The physical button can trigger SmartThings smart home actions, and an NFC chip lets anyone who finds the tag tap it to view registered contact details.

Samsung lists the SmartTag 3 at $29.99 for a single unit and $99.99 for a four-pack. It will be sold in black and white, with optional accessories including a Silicone Case and a Loop Case for attachment to items.

The SmartTag 3 launches in South Korea on October 7, 2026, and Samsung says it will be available in the US in November.
