Samsung Begins One UI 9 Testing on Fold 6 and Flip 6

Firmware entries for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 have surfaced, and they carry One UI 9.0 — the next major skin built on Android 17. The discovery, credited to Tarun Vats, suggests Samsung is already moving these foldables into its testing pipeline.

Small leak, big implication

Remember the beta that landed on the Galaxy S26 series in May? This is the next step. Samsung unveiled One UI 9.0 earlier this year and opened the beta program for flagship phones and tablets. Now the company appears to be extending that work to its premium foldables. File listings don't always spell out timelines, but they do reveal intent.

So what’s actually new in One UI 9? Plenty. The update rides on Android 17 and brings deeper Quick Panel customization, smarter Game Booster tweaks, and fresh tools inside Samsung Notes. There’s a subtle but useful privacy tweak: the system can now alert you when an app is using your location. Accessibility features are getting attention too, with multiple refinements meant to make devices easier to use for more people.
