Huawei debuts Huajing S with advanced in-car technology

Huawei and SGMW have officially revealed the Huajing S, the company's first flagship SUV crafted in collaboration with SAIC-GM-Wuling. Introduced through the Huawei Qiankun app, the Huajing S is a six-seat plug-in hybrid that aims to blend bold styling with the latest in connected and autonomous features.

Key technologies onboard

The Huajing S ships as standard with a suite of Huawei technologies, making it as much a mobile data center as it is a family SUV. Highlights include:

  • Qiankun ADS 4.0 intelligent driving system
  • HarmonySpace 5.0 smart cabin platform
  • Huawei IVCS cloud services
  • Limera cabin laser-vision system, deployed for the first time to enhance interior sensing and occupant safety

These systems reflect Huawei's broader Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance strategy, which partners the firm with automakers such as Seres, Chery, BAIC, JAC and SAIC to deliver connected vehicles under a range of brand names.

Design and platform

The Huajing S adopts a striking front fascia with a large trapezoidal grille and full-width Z-pattern headlights, topped by the Baojun badge. The front bumper uses a U-shaped motif, echoed by a continuous light signature at the rear. Underpinning the SUV is Baojun's Tianyu platform, offering a modern architecture for electrified powertrains and smart features.

Specifications and powertrain

Official Chinese industry filings indicate the Huajing S will be offered in three trim levels. Its exterior measures 5235 mm long, 1999 mm wide and 1800 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3105 mm. Depending on the version, curb weight ranges from about 2385 to 2665 kg.

Power comes from the Wuling Lingxi hybrid system, pairing a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 105 kW (approximately 141 hp) with LFP battery packs in 31 kWh and 41.9 kWh capacities. Claimed pure-electric ranges are approximately 130 km, 160 km and 175 km across the different variants. Detailed electric motor outputs and official combined fuel economy figures are yet to be released.

Market positioning and outlook

Huawei and SGMW have signaled a strategy to democratize intelligent vehicle technologies, targeting broader price bands near 150,000 yuan for their Baojun-linked models. Whether the Huajing S itself will meet that target price is unclear. Sales timing also remains unannounced.

Quote from the reveal: 'The Huajing S represents Huawei's ambition to merge cutting-edge connectivity with practical family transport,' said analysts following the launch.

Highlights:

  • 6-seat plug-in hybrid SUV
  • Advanced ADAS and smart cabin tech
  • Up to 175 km electric-only range

For buyers tracking new energy vehicles, the Huajing S is an important step in Huawei's push into automotive tech and branded mobility. Expect more technical details and pricing in the coming months.
