2027 Chevrolet Trax Facelift Spotted Undisguised RS Trim

A completely undisguised 2027 Chevrolet Trax prototype wearing RS badging was photographed in the United States, revealing the production-intent body panels and plastics for the mid-cycle refresh. Photographer Baldauf captured the example, and the sighting was reported by Mircea Panait on 23 September 2026.

The Summit White test car abandons the pre-facelift X-brace chrome treatment. A body-color panel now runs the full width of the fascia and houses a black bowtie on this grade, and the chrome bar that split the upper and lower grilles has been removed.

The Trax retains its two-tier lighting signature but with revised geometry. Upper LED daytime running lights sit above a new crossbar in slimmer housings, while the primary lamps have moved from vertical stacks to horizontal enclosures tucked beneath the crossbar. Those housings are flanked by body-color accents and black plastic slots in the lower fascia.

The grille adopts a wider, hexagonal footprint with a woven pattern that visually ties the headlamp clusters together. The lower intake keeps its overall shape but gains a new insert. A fresh sensor is mounted dead center of the front bumper, with parking sensors set into the body-color bumper surround below.

At the rear, corner-mounted taillight clusters are replaced by slimmer, wider units that extend into the liftgate, dipping at their outer edges and wrapping around the flanks to emphasize width. A piano-black applique links the rear lights across the hatch, a treatment previously seen on the Traverse and Equinox. The rear bumper is reshaped in molded plastic with a boxier form and smaller reflectors, and the whip antenna has been replaced by a shark fin. The photographed prototype’s interior remained out of frame.

Earlier sightings have suggested small interior updates, including a digital instrument cluster that could become standard across the range. No powertrain changes are expected; the Trax will continue with the 1.2-liter turbo inline-three rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet (220 Newton-meters).

For the outgoing 2026 model, that three-cylinder is paired with a six-speed automatic driving the front wheels only. An eight-speed transaxle has been discussed elsewhere, but Chevrolet’s choice of the six-speed helps keep production costs down and allows the brand to hold MSRPs at a sensible level into 2027.

The second-generation Trax has been a strong seller, clearing 200,000 units in each of the past two years. Chevrolet dealers sold 206,339 Trax units nationwide in 2025, up from 200,689 the previous year. The refreshed Trax is expected to debut in the coming months and should reach dealer lots by the end of 2026 or in the first quarter of 2027.
