2027 Subaru Forester Prices Hold, Wilderness Hybrid Debuts

Subaru of America is keeping 2027 MSRPs for the Forester and Forester Hybrid unchanged and is adding a new Forester Wilderness Hybrid to the lineup. The move preserves 2026 pricing for most Forester models while introducing a rugged hybrid variant with increased ground clearance and upgraded equipment.

Pricing and availability

The 2027 Subaru Forester starts at $29,995 MSRP and the 2027 Forester Hybrid starts at $34,730 MSRP; most Forester models carry over 2026 pricing. Subaru of America said, "Nearly all trims of the Subaru Forester return for 2027 with pricing identical to that of the 2026 models, affirming Subaru's commitment to providing affordable, capable, and safety-first new vehicles to shoppers." The 2027 Forester will reach dealerships later this fall.

Trims, powertrains, and the new Wilderness Hybrid

The 2027 Forester gas lineup is available in Base, Premium, Wilderness, and Limited trims. Gas-only Forester Sport, Sport Onyx Edition, and Touring trims have been deleted for 2027. The Forester Hybrid lineup adds an extra grade and is offered as Premium Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Wilderness Hybrid, Limited Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid.

Gas Forester models use a 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer engine rated at 180 hp. Hybrid Forester models pair an Atkinson/Miller-cycle 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer engine with electric motors and a high-capacity lithium-ion battery for a combined output of 194 horsepower.

The new 2027 Forester Wilderness Hybrid carries an MSRP of $40,495 and emphasizes off-road capability with several mechanical and equipment changes. Notable specifications and features include:

• Ground clearance increased to 9.3 inches
• All-terrain tires and enhanced underbody protection
• StarTex seat upholstery and a heated steering wheel
• 12.3-inch full digital gauge cluster and Harman Kardon sound system
• Power Rear Gate

Sales context

Subaru of America reported 62,028 vehicle deliveries in August 2026, up 1.3% year over year. The Crosstrek was the best-selling model for the month despite a 4.4% decline; the Ascent, Outback, and WRX each posted their best monthly sales so far this year. The Forester surged nearly 18% in August and is Subaru's best-selling model year to date, exceeding 140,000 units after a year-to-date increase of more than 15%.

Overall U.S. deliveries through August totaled 423,822 units compared with 437,030 units in the same period last year, a decline of three percentage points.
