Tesla has announced MY2027 upgrades for the Model 3 built at Giga Shanghai, adding a 16-inch 2560x1440 infotainment screen, Vehicle-to-Load capability, a black headliner and other cosmetic changes; rollout starts in China, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

The new 16-inch display replaces the previous 15.4-inch panel. The MY2027 screen runs at 2560x1440 (QHD) versus the outgoing unit's 1920x1200 resolution. Tesla says the panel delivers sharper images and increased brightness; Model Y owners say the difference is not obvious to the untrained eye.

Vehicle-to-Load, previously offered on the Model Y Long Range, Model Y Performance and the Model Y Premium, will be available on the Model 3 for MY2027. Communications from Tesla Korea indicate the Model 3 will support V2L natively, without requiring the mobile charger.

The interior headliner changes from dark grey to black. Premium models will replace white seats with a Zen Grey interior. Externally, the Model 3 Premium LR RWD will be offered with 19-inch Dark Nova wheels.

MY2027 vehicles built at Giga Shanghai will carry a V in the tenth position of the vehicle identification number; MY2026 Model 3s used a T in that position.

Tesla has officially announced the upgraded Model 3 in China, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, with other markets to follow. The early availability in nearby markets reflects Giga Shanghai's role as an export hub for Tesla.

Because sea shipment from Shanghai to Europe takes more than a month, European deliveries of the MY2027 changes are likely to begin toward the end of October at the earliest.

Tesla began switching to larger infotainment screens in January with the Model Y Premium. The company routinely introduces incremental changes through a model's life cycle rather than only on formal model-year updates.
