Motorola’s next premium flip phone is starting to look a lot less like a comeback story and more like a rerun. Fresh leaks around the Razr 70 Ultra suggest that, aside from a few carefully chosen tweaks, the company may be preparing a device that feels almost identical to last year’s Razr 60 Ultra.
That is not exactly the kind of headline foldable fans were hoping for.
Recent renders already showed off two eye-catching color options for the upcoming Razr 70 Ultra, which is expected to arrive as the Razr Ultra (2026) in the US. But the latest report paints a much more restrained picture under the polished exterior. According to Android Headlines, Motorola may be sticking with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the same trio of 50MP cameras, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage.
The biggest change, at least on paper, appears to be the battery. It may grow to 5,000mAh, a modest 6% bump over its predecessor. Even so, charging is said to remain unchanged at 68W wired support. In other words, a bigger cell, but no major leap in refill speed.

A familiar shape, a familiar story
If the leaked dimensions are accurate, the Razr 70 Ultra will be nearly a carbon copy of the previous model in hand. The phone is tipped to measure 171.48 x 73.99 x 7.19 mm when unfolded and weigh 199g, which puts it squarely in the same territory as the Razr 60 Ultra. That leaves the new color finishes as the most obvious visual difference for now.
The displays also seem set to carry over unchanged. The outer screen is expected to stay at 4 inches with a 1080 x 1272 resolution, while the main foldable panel should again measure 7 inches with a 2992 x 1224 resolution. For anyone hoping Motorola would push the hardware further this year, that news will land with a thud.
There is, however, one small detail worth watching. The leaked images from last week did not show a visible cutout on the inner display, which has sparked speculation that Motorola could be experimenting with an under-display front camera. If true, that would be the one feature that gives the phone a genuine point of difference.
Motorola appears to be keeping its launch rhythm intact, too. If the company follows the same playbook as before, the Razr 70 Ultra should be announced before the end of the month and reach the market sometime in May.
That conservative approach may not excite power users, but it probably makes more sense once you factor in the industry-wide memory shortage. Holding the line on specs could be Motorola’s way of avoiding a price hike, even if that means the Razr 70 Ultra ends up looking more like a polished refresh than a true next step.
In today’s smartphone market, that kind of caution is becoming easier to understand, even if it is harder to cheer for.

is this even true? 68W again, same 50MP trio, same RAM... feels lazy. if the under-cam works then maybe, but i'm not holding breath

Wow, felt like Motorola skipped a year. Same chips, same cameras, tiny battery bump. Under-display cam could save it, but im skeptical. meh.
