Screen fatigue has a way of sneaking up on you. A few late nights, too many hours in front of a laptop, and suddenly even blinking feels like work. Xiaomi seems to be leaning directly into that modern problem with a fresh version of its Mijia Smart Massage Eye Mask, now arriving in a softer Light Sand finish instead of the original black.
The new color is up for pre order in China at about €25, converted from its introductory local price. Once that launch offer ends, the regular retail price lands closer to €31. For a gadget that mixes heated eye care, vibration massage, and app based controls, that puts it firmly in impulse buy territory for people who spend their days staring at screens.
Built for tired eyes, not just better looks
This is not simply a sleep mask with a smarter label slapped on it. Xiaomi has designed it as a reusable heated massage eye mask meant to ease eye strain, whether that comes from office work, gaming, commuting, or plain old insomnia. The shape curves around the bridge of the nose to block outside light more effectively, and the inner section is recessed so the material does not press directly onto the eyelids. That sounds like a small detail until you have worn a badly designed mask for ten minutes.
Inside, Xiaomi uses four independent vibration motors to simulate a finger pressure style massage around the eye area. The company says the massage points are tucked under the padding, which helps avoid leaving marks on the skin after use. In other words, you can take it off without looking like you just lost a fight with your pillow.
Heat is part of the pitch too. The mask supports two temperature settings for heated compression, with an NTC temperature control system handling consistency. That matters more than it may seem. Uneven heat can turn a relaxing wearable into something you want to rip off your face halfway through a session.
Users can operate the mask directly, but the bigger convenience play is smartphone connectivity through the Mijia app. From there, session length can be adjusted anywhere between 2 and 30 minutes. Xiaomi also includes six preset modes, including Heat Compress, Nap, Vitality, and Refresh, plus a customizable option for people who already know exactly how they want their recovery routine to feel.

One of the more thoughtful design choices sits right on the forehead. Xiaomi places the main control module in the center, rather than along the sides, making the mask easier to wear while lying on one side. No hard plastic digging into your temples. Simple idea. Smart fix.
The vibration system is rated at 40 dB(A) or less, so it should stay quiet enough not to ruin a rest break or bedtime routine. The breathable fabric cover can also be removed and washed, which is the kind of practical feature every face worn device should have from day one.
Xiaomi has been busy elsewhere in the smart home category too. Alongside this eye mask update, the company has also rolled out the Mijia Wireless Vacuum Cleaner 4 with blue light dust detection and a new 1.7 liter titanium steel electric kettle. It is a familiar Xiaomi strategy: keep expanding the ecosystem, then make even everyday comfort products feel like connected tech.
And that may be the real story here. The Mijia Smart Massage Eye Mask is not trying to reinvent wellness wearables. It is taking a simple self care product, refining the details, and pricing it low enough that plenty of curious buyers may decide to give their eyes a break at last.

Feels a bit overhyped but ok. Price is solid, washable cover is obvious tho. App control = more parts to fail, and 40 dB might be loud on quiet nights...

Heated eye mask for €31? Sounds tempting but does vibration + heat actually fix screen strain or just soothe? Anyone tried it yet, curious
