Xiaomi’s priciest cordless vacuum yet goes hands-free

Xiaomi is on one of those product-launch streaks where something new seems to appear every other day. This time, it is not a washing machine, an air conditioner, or another kitchen appliance. It is a vacuum, and not just any vacuum. The new Mijia Cordless Vacuum Cleaner 4 Max looks like Xiaomi’s most ambitious cordless cleaner so far, with the kind of feature set usually reserved for premium home tech.

What makes it stand out is the automatic dust collection system. Instead of forcing you to empty the dust cup after every cleanup, the vacuum sends debris straight into a 3 liter antibacterial dust bag housed inside its charging base. Xiaomi says the transfer process takes as little as 11 seconds and captures 99% of the dust. In plain terms, that means less mess, less contact with allergens, and far less of that unpleasant post-cleaning ritual people tend to hate.

Under the hood, Xiaomi has equipped the Mijia Cordless Vacuum Cleaner 4 Max with an 800W high-speed brushless motor that spins at up to 150,000 rpm. The company claims suction power reaches 280AW, with vacuum pressure topping out at 27,000Pa. Those are serious numbers for a cordless vacuum, and they suggest this model is built to deal with everything from everyday dust and pet hair to bulkier bits like dry food crumbs and cat litter.

The rest of the package leans heavily into convenience. Xiaomi has added a 12-cone cyclone separation system designed to reduce clogging and keep suction performance steady over time. There is also a 180 degree wide-angle blue light dust detection feature, which helps reveal fine particles that often disappear into certain floor finishes or dim corners. Even the floor brush has been shaped with edge cleaning in mind, so it can reach closer to walls and tight spots without leaving that frustrating strip of debris behind.

Built for long cleaning sessions, not quick compromises

Battery life is another area where Xiaomi is clearly trying to make a statement. The vacuum uses a built-in 4000mAh battery pack and is rated for up to 90 minutes of runtime. That figure, as always, will depend on the cleaning mode, but even allowing for real-world variation, it puts the 4 Max in strong company among premium cordless vacuums. Better still, the battery is removable, which is the sort of practical detail buyers tend to appreciate more after a year or two of regular use.

Xiaomi has also folded the vacuum into its broader smart home ecosystem. The Mijia Cordless Vacuum Cleaner 4 Max supports HyperOS Connectivity and works with the Mi Home app, allowing users to check battery health, switch suction levels, get reminders when the dust bag needs replacing, and tie the vacuum into automated routines. Xiaomi even says it can interact with other connected devices, including air purifiers and smart locks, opening the door to coordinated cleaning scenarios inside a smarter home setup.

The antibacterial angle is another part of Xiaomi’s pitch. According to the company, the dust bag includes a silver-ion antibacterial layer with a claimed antibacterial rate of 99.99%. Under typical usage, Xiaomi says one bag can last up to 100 days before it needs to be replaced. If that holds up outside the marketing sheet, it could be one of the more appealing quality-of-life upgrades here.

As for price, the Mijia Cordless Vacuum Cleaner 4 Max has launched on Xiaomi Youpin at CNY 1,999, which works out to roughly €255 at current exchange rates. That places it firmly in premium territory for a Xiaomi home appliance, and it helps explain why this is being seen as the brand’s most upscale cordless vacuum yet. A wider international release seems unlikely for now, but for anyone tracking Xiaomi’s smart home ambitions, this one says a lot about where the company is heading next.

“I cover emerging technologies, digital innovation, and the intersection of tech and everyday life. My goal is to make complex trends accessible and inspiring.”

Interesting but is the 99.99% antibacterial claim real? Silver ion sounds fancy, but 100 days per bag? Seems optimistic, what's the catch, fees for bags?
