Lava has quietly expanded its Play Series with the new Play Max, a mid-range handset aimed at young users who split their time between study, social apps, streaming and mobile gaming. It pairs a modern MediaTek chip with a smooth 120Hz display and a big battery, wrapped in a simple, bloat-free Android build.
Performance and battery that favor long sessions
Under the hood the Play Max runs on the Dimensity 7300 SoC, supported by up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage—expandable up to 1TB. Lava also adds VC cooling to help maintain sustained performance during extended gaming sessions on titles like COD Mobile, Free Fire and BGMI, promising fewer thermal throttling hiccups.
The 6.72-inch Full HD+ panel refreshes at 120Hz for fluid scrolling and gameplay, while a 5,000 mAh battery provides the stamina most users expect from a modern budget-to-midrange phone. Fast charging is handled via 33W support, which tops the battery more quickly than older slow-charge options.

Cameras, software and extra touches
The Play Max features a 50MP primary camera with EIS and 4K@30fps video capture and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. Lava ships the device with a "clean Android 15" experience, aiming to keep the interface uncluttered and free of heavy preinstalled apps.

Pricing in India starts at INR 12,999 for the 6GB/128GB model and INR 14,999 for the 8GB/128GB variant. Lava says the Play Max will go on sale in India this month, and every unit will be eligible for the company's "Free Service @ Home" support program, though an exact sale date hasn't been announced yet.
For buyers who want a fast display, long battery life and simple Android software on a budget, the Play Max appears to be a sensible option—especially for gamers and students who need reliable everyday performance without spending big.
