Georgia-based designer Giorgi Tedoradze has released an unofficial CGI reimagining of the BMW Isetta as a compact cabriolet, presenting an open-top take on the microcar purely as a digital concept. The work is a personal project, not an announcement from BMW, and it rolls out amid BMW's broader Neue Klasse transition.
Where this sits in BMW's product shift
BMW has been shifting to its Neue Klasse design and platform concept in recent years. The rollout began with the second-generation NA5 BMW iX3 premium electric compact crossover last fall and continued with the second-generation NA0 BMW i3 sedan introduced in spring 2026. A mid-cycle refresh of the BMW 7 Series updated the interior to Neue Klasse standards while leaving the exterior with its distinctive split headlight style.

The latest X5 has adopted the Neue Klasse ethos both inside and out, but it retained the predecessor CLAR platform to support multiple powertrain types. That platform accommodates gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, all-electric, and hydrogen fuel cell configurations. BMW has also signalled more Neue Klasse models to come, including an ICE-powered BMW 3 Series offered with four- and six-cylinder engines, the first-ever BMW i3 Touring, and a roster of BMW M performance cars that will include both internal combustion and electric M3 variants.

Isetta lineage and the CGI reinterpretation
The original Isetta began as the Italian Iso Isetta and was subsequently re-engineered by BMW in Bavaria; BMW modified so much of the design and engineering that the Italian and German versions were not interchangeable despite shared visual traits. Tedoradze's modern, unofficial interpretation leans stylistically toward the compact two-seat city car format exemplified by the smart ForTwo, a segment that will see a new smart #2 model launch as a brand-new car in a matter of weeks.

Tedoradze, who posts as "tedoradze.giorgi" on social media, has taken that reinterpretation further with a Cabriolet version, giving the tiny city car the visual and experiential appeal of an open-top layout in sunny conditions. The project remains a virtual design exercise and is presented as the artist's creative exploration rather than a factory-backed proposal.
This BMW Isetta Cabriolet exists only as an unofficial CGI concept by Giorgi Tedoradze and is not an announced BMW project.
