McLaren P34 Targets 810 hp, 800 lb-ft for 2028 Launch

McLaren's next mid-engine supercar, the P34, is targeting 810 horsepower and 800 pound-feet (1,085 Newton-meters) from an electrified twin-turbo V6, Automotive News reports.

Automotive News, citing dealers who asked not to be identified, says the P34 will pair the electrified V6 with an in-house transmission and aim for roughly $313,000 in U.S. retail pricing.

The report describes the P34 as longer than the Artura with a wedge-shaped front end that hints at McLaren F1 influences. McLaren positions the P34 between the Artura and the 7xx series rather than as a direct replacement for either model.

McLaren plans about 1,000 units in the first year of production. Deliveries are expected to begin in the latter part of next year’s hottest season, meaning American dealers will receive it as a 2028 model-year car rather than 2027.

The company outlined a product cadence of at least one new model each year through 2028 and said it is simultaneously finalizing the W1 hypercar program and work on a four-door model.

McLaren is also overhauling its dealer experience. Proposed showroom changes include earth tones, wood paneling, warm lighting and a central greeting desk surrounded by vehicles and consultation rooms, according to the dealer briefing.

Dealers were told to expect minimum investments of $1 million and at least a 25 percent increase in service capacity. McLaren plans no fewer than five flagship centers in Las Vegas, Miami, New York, Dallas and Los Angeles.

The automaker is revising its corporate identity, introducing a retro-inspired wordmark credited to Bruce McLaren and a more pronounced, three-dimensional Speedmark that can appear separately from the McLaren name.

The report notes that the P34 follows the engineering recipe used on the Artura but shifts from a V8 to a downsized V6, a change likely to displease some internal-combustion purists. The briefing also said McLaren has struggled to move the Artura after an initial rollout hampered by quality-related issues.
