Elon Musk told attendees at the White House that he believes the most likely outcome of artificial intelligence development is an "age of abundance" in which people generally enjoy high incomes.

He described this era as the probable result of AI-driven transformations to the economy and services.

Workforce change and job roles

Musk said jobs have always changed and will continue to do so. He pointed to the historical occupation called "computer" — a person hired to perform calculations — to illustrate how tasks once performed by people are now handled by machines. According to him, the spread of AI does not necessarily mean lower demand for human labor; instead, roles in the labor market will transform and demand for some kinds of human work remains strong.

Medical advances and superintelligence

Musk highlighted potential medical benefits from AI and what he called superintelligence (systems that significantly exceed human cognitive abilities). He said that with advances in robotics and superintelligence, it may become possible for everyone worldwide to receive medical care that surpasses what today is available even to wealthy individuals. He presented these outcomes as plausible results of continued AI development.
