Samsung is distributing One UI 9 based on Android 17 to the Galaxy S24 series, with the download sized at about 500MB for users who participated in the beta and roughly 3.8GB for devices upgrading from One UI 8.5.

The company has started the rollout for the Galaxy S24 handsets and the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6, with the initial distribution taking place in South Korea. Wider availability is expected to expand to additional markets in the coming days and weeks.

Update sizes and availability

For the Galaxy S24 series the One UI 9 package is approximately 500MB for phones already on the beta channel and about 3.8GB when updating directly from One UI 8.5. For the Z Fold6 and Flip6 models the update is about 408MB from the beta build and about 3.5GB for devices moving from One UI 8.5. The update is the One UI 9 release built on Android 17.

Rollout history

One UI 9 first appeared on the Galaxy Z Fold8, Fold8 Ultra and Flip8 in July. Samsung released the update for Galaxy S26 models in mid-September, then expanded to the Galaxy S25 series and the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7 towards the end of last month. This current wave adds the S24 series plus the Fold6 and Flip6.

Users moving from One UI 8.5 should expect substantially larger downloads than those who install from the beta channel.
